Yogesh is a skilled tattoo artist revelling in his art.

Yogesh Thakur is the owner of The Yogi’s Ink Tattoo Studio.

Yogesh was born and brought up in the Ghana village in Jabalpur district of MP. He  completed his education from Jabalpur itself. Recalling his childhood, he says that he grew up spending most of his time taking strolls and swimming in and around his village with his friends.

Yogesh was always interested in drawing and sketching. He says that once when he visited a tattoo studio with his friend, he got fascinated with the art of tattooing while seeing his friend get a tattoo. He showed his sketches to the tattoo artist - Elen George, asking him if he would teach him tattooing, to which Elen readily agreed. He then quit his ongoing job and invested his total time and focus into tattooing.

Yogesh says that the initial days after he learned tattooing were quite a struggle for him as he had to visit the customers and persuade them to get tattoos done on their body. Gradually, he saved enough to open a tattoo studio of his own.

Talking about achievements in his journey so far, Yogesh says that the first achievement for him was to open a tattoo studio. He says that one time he inked a tattoo on a fan of actor Salman Khan in which he tattooed the names of all Salman’s movies. That tattoo went viral on social media making him popular. He says this was also an achievement for him.

Yogesh’s role models are his parents, who supported him throughout his journey. He also admires Elen George - his mentor, who trained him in the art of tattooing, and many other senior tattoo artists .

Apart from tattooing, Yogesh likes to spend time with his friends and family. He also likes swimming and sketching.

Sharing his experience of the COVID pandemic, Yogesh says that it was a horrific time for him, as he lost his father to the disease while battling a financial crisis. He says that he had to take up the responsibility of the family and somehow tried to make ends meet.

Yogesh advises the budding artists to work hard with dedication and passion and never give up.
