Yogesh Jain is a vocalist, tabla player, and harmonium player. He is also the Director of Saptasur Music Pvt. Ltd. in Pune.
Recalling his childhood, Yogesh says he belongs to a middle-class family. He started learning music at the age of three. He started playing notations on harmonium commercially after he turned six. His father, a delivery man at a gas company, saw his interest in music and started teaching him music at an early age.
Sharing about his journey, Yogesh says that as he belongs to the "Warkari community," there used to be a musical environment of bhajans in his family. It developed his interest in music, and he started to provide coaching when he was 13. Later, he pursued his BA in music.
When asked about his mistakes, Yogesh says he had started performing all over India by 2011 and that made him overconfident. He thought he was the best and left his guru, Kishor Kulkarni. Later, his career started falling because he was not learning anymore. By the end of 2016, he completely lost his career and stopped getting shows because of his arrogance. He realized his mistake and apologized to his guruji.
Talking about his role models, Yogesh says his father is his role model, as he learned music from him. He also considers Suresh Wadkar as his role model, as he was inspired by his music and also learned from him.
Yogesh’s life mantra is, "If you keep practicing, you can get really good at something."
Advising the younger generation, Yogesh says to keep patience and have a proper knowledge of music before starting a career in this field.
