Experience gives courage, and courage takes you on the path of victory.
Yash Deo Singh is the founder-director of Kaizen Education Systems. He hails from Udaipur and lives here with his family and parents.
Yash was an average student in his school days at Central School and in college thereafter. But he was talented and participated in various activities like theatre, singing, etc. After college, he joined a job but soon left it as he wanted to do something of his own. He started Yash Printers, which has been successful and commands good business among the corporate houses, schools, and colleges in Udaipur.
A turning point came in his life when he heard a motivational speaker in 2002. He thought, Why could he himself not become a motivational speaker? He handed over his printing business to his wife, made the same speaker his guru, and started following and accompanying him day and night. After persevering for three years, his guru started grooming him, and he gradually became an accomplished motivational speaker.
Yash says that three things are important for any speaker: content, body language, and a huge vocabulary. It is easy to teach the less literate, but quite difficult to speak before learned people. Every day, he would wake up at 4 a.m. and practice in order to brush his speaking and groom himself.
As with everyone, Yash also had challenges and setbacks initially in his career, but he overcame them with his commitment. Today, he exudes confidence that he can even train the salespeople of a company to sell combs to bald people. He also started a network marketing company and built a network of 54,000 people from Kohima to Assam to Bengal.
Yash’s success mantra is to decide, focus, and act. He thinks you will have to be different from the crowd to make your mark. The market always puts the same price tag on you, which you assign yourself. So value yourself highly.
For aspiring speakers, his advice is to consistently strive for personal growth. They should focus on honing skills such as understanding the audience's emotions, maintaining eye contact, and expanding their vocabulary. His counsel for the youth extends to breaking free from the grip of mobile devices, encouraging daily conversations with others, spending quality time with family, and fostering self-motivation.
In his opinion, in order to attain success, you will have to do what you don’t like to do. He thinks experience is gained as we make mistakes. As our knowledge increases, we will commit fewer mistakes. He says that experience gives courage, and courage takes you on the path of victory.
Even if Yash were put into a time machine and taken back, he would not change anything and would always be a motivational speaker.
Yash has fond memories of his childhood, when he was very naughty.
Whenever he is free, Yash does self-introspection and also likes to sing.
