A third-generation chartered accountant in his family firm, Yash Kunawat specializes in taxation, audit, financial consultancy, and wealth creation. He currently also serves as President of Rotary Club Udaipur Yuva, which focuses on engaging Udaipur's youth in social service. Inspired by his grandfather and father, both active in social work, Yash combines his passion for finance and community service.

Yash Kunawat is a Chartered Accountant working in his 60-year-old family firm R. L. Kunawat and Co. and Kunawat & Associates in Udaipur. They have customers from all over India, though mainly from Udaipur, to whom they provide services in Taxation and Financial consultancy.

Kunawat is also currently serving in the capacity of President of the Rotary Club Udaipur Yuva. Established 2 years ago, this chapter of Rotary International was started with the purpose of connecting the youth of Udaipur City so that they can collectively give back to society by channeling their energy toward social service.

Yash shares that his grandfather, R. L. Kunawat, started this tax advocacy firm. Yash is the third generation Chartered Accountant to join this family firm, where his father and grandfather have been  a part of. Currently, they are working under the umbrella of R. L. Kunawat and Co., where the brand name is ‘Kunawat and Associates.’ Here, they deal in taxation, audit, corporate laws, GST, financial consultancy, financial planning, etc. Besides all these services, CA Yash also offers wealth creation advice through mutual funds and other types of investments.

Yash Kunawat recalls that, since childhood, he used to go to his father’s office during vacations to understand taxation and the kind of work they did. Hence, it would not be an exaggeration to share that the subject of Finance flows in the genes of the Kunawat family. Guided by this family legacy, Yash decided to opt for this career.

Similarly, as he grew up, watching his grandfather and father, he also learnt that social service is an integral part of life. His grandfather, R. L. Kunawat, served as District Governor of a Lions  International district, and his father, Nirmal Kunawat, has served as the District Governor of a Rotary International district. Hence, taking inspiration from his father and grandfather, who used to help the unprivileged and specially-abled people, Yash realized that the satisfaction you get from social work is immense. Hence, he tries to give back to society through Rotary Club Yuva.

Born and brought up in Udaipur, Kunawat did his entire schooling at St. Paul’s Senior Secondary School. He always had the clarity in his mind that he would pursue Chartered Accountancy as his profession. After completing the intermediate level of the CA course, he relocated to Ahmedabad to pursue his articleship. He joined G.K. Choksi & Co. there and gained experience in taxation and audit services. Yash learned a lot of things in this training period. After becoming a CA, he came back to Udaipur and joined his parent firm to boost his career.

Further, to enhance his knowledge, Yash started pursuing a degree in Law from Jaipur National University. Currently, he is also pursuing ACCA, which comes in line with his belief that ‘Learning is a continuous process.’

Yash Kunawat highlights that he draws inspiration from his grandfather, who taught him to live a disciplined life. He taught him to live a life that doesn't hamper one’s work, health, or wealth along with dedication and persistence towards work, no matter what hardships may come. Hard work, patience, and dedication toward work help us ace our careers.

CA Kunawat mentions that he also took inspiration from his parents. His father, Nirmal Kunawat, taught him to live a practical life and deal with problems practically. His father always advises him to solve the problem rather than cribbing about it. His mother is a very calm and patient woman. CA being one of the most difficult professions, which involves long sitting hours and a lot of dedication, his mother helped him complete this vast course and similarly deal with very other problems in his life.

When asked about his favorite quote, he recalls the famous lines by Harivansh Rai Bacchan:

लहरों से डर कर नौका पार नहीं होती कोशिश करने वालों की कभी हार नहीं होती नन्ही चींटी जब दाना लेकर चलती है चढ़ती दीवारों पर, सौ बार फिसलती है मन का विश्वास रगों में साहस भरता है चढ़कर गिरना, गिरकर चढ़ना न अखरता है उसकी मेहनत बेकार नहीं होती कोशिश करने वालों की कभी हार नहीं होती

Yash Kunawat believes that CA is not a smart course or a course that can only be pursued by intelligent people. It is rather a course that requires dedication and consistency. Any student scoring 60% in 12th grade can also top as a Chartered Accountant as compared to students who cannot clear the CA exam but topped in their 12th grade. He shares that due to the vast course content in chartered accountancy, this course is not about intelligence; it is rather about consistency and dedication.

Yash believes that, due to so many compliances and policy changes going on, there is always a huge demand and scope for CAs in terms of employment opportunities. Kunawat shares that a CA may get a lot of work, but it all depends on his hard work.

Talking about Rotary, Yash Kunawat explains that when anyone joins Rotary Club Udaipur Yuva or any other Rotary Club, they become a member of the distinguished worldwide community of 14 lakh Rotarians spread across the globe. A major contribution by Rotary International and its clubs has been their work for the eradication of Polio from the world. Kunawat emphasizes that Rotary gives a lot of social work and professional work-related opportunities to fulfill your passion. He mentions that Rotary also has different fellowship groups based on common interests like business, music, golf etc among its members. Rotary helps in enhancing  different dimensions of life for personality development of its members.

Yash Kunawat underlines that anybody looking to join Rotary Club Udaipur Yuva must be happy within themselves and love what they do. Their guide and mentor, Dr. Seema Singh says that one will be able to serve others only if they are content within themselves first.

CA Yash shares that when he cleared the CA exam, everybody congratulated him. However, one person said that Yash could clear the CA exam only because he relocated to Ahmedabad city. That was when he wrote a few lines:

एक काम किस्मत या कर्म के नाम ? सफलता मिली, किसी ने बोला किस्मत से,  कोई बोला धर्म से, किसी ने तो ये बोल दिया कि, इस शहर में होने की वजह से मिली...  पर किसी ने ये नहीं बोला... कि सफलता मिली तो तेरे कर्म से मिली..  मेरी मानो तो मत करो भरोसा, उन हाथों की लकीरों पर जो किस्मत बताती हैं।   क्यूंकि किस्मत तो उनकी भी होती है, जिनके हाथ नहीं होते। हाथ नहीं, हाथों की लकीर नहीं,  पर वे कलम में भरकर स्याही, अपने कर्म से खुद किस्मत की लकीरें बनाते हैं। कर्म कर, सब्र कर, कर्म कर और फिर सब्र कर,  क्यूंकि बन्दे, ऊपर वाला तेरे कर्म को देखकर, अब तेरी किस्मत की लकीरें  खींच रहा है सब दोष अपनी किस्मत को मत देना, और ध्यान रखना, किस्मत को ही अपनी सफलता का पूर्ण लाभार्थी मत बना देना,  क्यूंकि काम होने और काम बिगड़ने में, तेरे कर्म बहुत बड़े भागीदार होंगे इसलिए किसी ने ठीक ही कहा है.. कर्म कर और फल की चिंता तू मत कर

Thus, Yash believes that hard work, consistency, dedication, and positivity are the only mantras for success.
