Vivek Prakash is a singer and music director. He has produced several albums and has been working in the field for more than 25 years.
Vivek hails from Lucknow and is currently residing in Mumbai.
Recalling his childhood, Vivek says that his childhood was a little different as rather than play, he was focused on learning music and also performed in music programmes apart from his school studies. He learned music from Bhatkhande Music College. He says that he had a lovely childhood with a lot of sweet memories. After completing his education in Lucknow, he moved to Mumbai and learned classical music from his maternal uncle, who was also a classical flute player, and stepped into the bhajan and ghazal industry.
Talking about his challenges, Vivek says that moving to Mumbai presented many challenges to him, such as how to earn his living and make his name in the music field. However, he never lost courage and made connections in the industry. He says that he was helped by Ravindra Jain and Jatin Lalit, and gradually he started getting more opportunities and also traveled abroad for performing shows.
Sharing about his mistakes, Vivek says that mistakes are bound to happen, and he too had made many mistakes, but he had learned from them and advises everyone to learn from the experienced people and elders.
Sharing about his achievements, Vivek says that he has worked with almost all the well-known Indian singers, and he has made his name in bhakti sangeet and in the ghazal industry. He had also given music in many advertisement films. He was also conferred with many awards, such as the Sangeet Natak Academy Award, and got the chance to meet former President Abdul Kalam and Pt. Bismillah Khan. He feels that the respect that he gets from people is his biggest achievement.
When asked about his role models, Vivek says that his mother has been his inspiration and has encouraged him to pursue music, and his maternal uncle has also been a guiding light in his music career.
For mental peace, Vivek likes to read books and listen to music. He feels that connecting to music gives him satisfaction.
Vivek’s life mantra is that there is no shortcut to success, and that one needs to work extremely hard to achieve their goals. He advises aspiring artists to take music seriously and try to learn it professionally.
