Dr. Vishnu Agarwal is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, Udaipur. Vishnu hails from Kota, Rajasthan.
Talking about his educational qualifications, Vishnu says he did his BTech in Mechanical Engineering and MTech in Thermal Engineering from Engineering College, Kota. He also holds a PhD in Renewable Energy from the College of Technology and Engineering, Udaipur.
Recalling his childhood, Vishnu says he spent his early days in the old city of Kota and reminisces about having savory meals with the little pocket money he had. He did his primary education at Mahaveer School in Kota, followed by the rest of the studies until 12th grade at Bal Madhyamik Vidyalaya. Identifying his interest in Physics and Mathematics, Vishnu took up engineering and started preparing for entrance exams.
Discussing his professional journey, Vishnu shares that he had an interest in reading books and delving deeper into subjects. This propelled him to pursue a career in teaching. Vishnu started as a guest faculty member at Engineering College, Kota, before joining Geetanjali as an Assistant Professor. He has fifteen years of teaching experience at the institute.
Discussing his challenges, Vishnu reveals that he experienced anxiety during his examination days but managed to overcome it through patience. Additionally, Vishnu admits that he initially struggled with stage fright when he began his teaching career and faced a classroom filled with students. However, with a strong command of his subject, he surpassed all those challenges and taught confidently.
Sharing his pandemic experience, Vishnu reveals that he immersed himself in watching the serials based on the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, drawing valuable insights and lessons from these ancient epics.
Talking about his role models, Vishnu says he draws inspiration from his father, who taught him until the 8th grade and because of whom he could progress in life.
Drawing a comparison between education and experience, Vishnu says that while education introduces you to the basic terms pertaining to a subject, it is experience that allows you to experience the practical implementation of those terms. He adds that experience makes you financially strong and independent.
If Vishnu could travel back in time through a time machine, he would revisit his childhood and try his luck in the administrative services.
Vishnu advises the youth to first complete their basic education and dedicate their initial two years to patiently learning and gaining expertise in their chosen field of work.
Vishnu advises aspiring teachers to understand their students well and identify the way they would like to be taught. Vishnu says that before giving any lecture, a teacher should be totally ready for the topic and have thorough knowledge about it.
His hobbies include listening to songs by Kishore Kumar and Mohammed Rafi. He also likes to visit places that are close to nature. Vishnu enjoys watching science-fiction movies.
