Virendra Singh Chundawat has been working as the principal of BN Senior Secondary School in Udaipur since 2012.
Virendra was born in Chandi Mandir, an Indian military cantonment. His father was in the army and he completed his schooling at the places of his father’s postings. He did his BA from JNVU, Jodhpur. He did his MA from RU, Jaipur.
Talking about his childhood, Virendra says that his childhood was spent in the proximity of army personnel and it made him disciplined in life.
Virendra thinks that education holds the power to change the world. And that’s why he thought of becoming a teacher. Clearing the required exam in 1996 to become a teacher, later in 2003, he joined BN School in Udaipur as a teacher, and currently, he is the principal there. Besides, he says it really psyches him up when his students put up queries and when he interacts with them.
Virendra thinks that education is important but experience is paramount and one is incomplete without the other.
According to Virendra, one develops leadership qualities with time and experience as one solves one’s problems. Besides, he says that you need to be experienced yourself first to get a task done by people.
Talking about COVID, Virendra says that it was an unprecedented situation and he had never thought he would have to face such a situation. The pandemic hit the economy of the country badly and also the education field got impacted by it a lot. He too was down with the disease but not losing hope and by following all the safety measures, he recovered.
In his spare time, Virendra likes to play sports with his students. Besides, he also likes to read books on India’s foreign policy and its international relations with other countries. Furthermore, he also watches news on TV.
When asked about his role models, Virendra says that the life story and struggles of Maharana Pratap are worthy of emulation for him and he considers the Maharana as his role model.
To the youth of today, Virendra advises them to respect and embrace their culture and traditions and also to cherish living with their families.
Virendra is reminiscent of his school and college days and he would want to relive those days if he could go back in time via a Time Machine.
