A retired professor of Sanskrit and an astrologer,Vinod believes astrology is for serving mankind and not for business.

Prof. Vinod Shastri has distinguished himself for over 40 years as a premiere exponent of Vedic Astrology, Palmistry and Vaastu Shastra. Now retired, he was a passionate educator at the University of Rajasthan, specializing in Sanskrit. He is the author of over 25 books and his Raashiphal appears daily newspapers. He was the Vice-Chancellor of the Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University (Retd). He held the posts of professor & H.O.D of Sanskrit, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Rajasthan.

Vinod was born in Jaipur but was brought up in his maternals’ home. His maternal grandfather was his “Diksha guru” and he studied Sanskrit under his guidance.

Vinod completed his primary education at his maternals’ place and the rest of his education at his native place, Lalsot. Then he came to Jaipur with his father. His father was a teacher whose financial condition was not such that he could bear the expenses of education and the upbringing of six children.

While his elder brother was allowed to study medicine, his father made Vinod leave his studies after the tenth grade. But his elder brother encouraged him to study further. He then studied further in a Sanskrit school and also did post graduation. He was a merit holder during his school and graduation years.

Vinod was also a member of the  students syndicate during his college years. After completion of his degree, he tried for government vacancies. He joined as an adhoc lecturer at the Alwar Government College. Then he got a posting in Rajasthan university, Jaipur. There he restarted publishing and developing the jyotish Panchang. He has also written more than twenty five books on jyotish-astrology.

Vinod always wanted to contribute to society and work for the welfare of people. After years of his efforts and contribution to Sanskrit education, he became a professor. He represented the country in various renowned platforms and in front of dignitaries of different nations.

To the young generation, Vinod suggests that those who want to study Astrology from certified government institutions should respect this knowledge and must not misuse this.
