Since 2012-13, he has maintained a record of 100% regularity in the changes and activities of Rotary. While he was previously part of another club, he has been associated with his current Rotary Club for the past five years. His deep connection with Rotary stems from the original philosophy of its founder, Paul Harris, which prioritized \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"fellowship.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"

Keeping this spirit of fellowship in mind, Vinod Kothari values the opportunity to meet people who come from various fields and possess diverse behaviors, cultures, and thoughts. He harbors a desire to influence them positively. Alongside Rotary, he is an active member of 5 to 6 other prominent organizations in Jaipur. These include the Jewelers Association, the Jai Club, Sardar Club Jodhpur, and Marwari International, a 50-year-old charitable organization, among others. He cherishes his association with all these entities.

Reflecting on his personal circumstances, he notes that life has been favorable to him as he is now free from major parental responsibilities. With three daughters who are all married, his household currently consists of himself, his wife, and his mother. This freedom allows him to dedicate time to these organizations, meet new people, and gather experiences—some good, and occasionally bitter. These interactions shape his feelings towards these institutions, especially Rotary.

Vinod Kothari’s family background is deeply rooted in the jewelry business, an industry he has been associated with for 40 years. His primary professional focus is on manufacturing loose gemstones, along with some jewelry. He recalls that his father was also very active in social activities and had a profound fondness for writing. Unlike those interested in novels or watching television, his father spent his time writing poems. The family has even published a book of his works. Vinod Kothari has inherited some of these poetic instincts. He often pens short lines and verses, almost all of them self-written, which he occasionally publishes or shares with friends.

Expressing his creative side, he shares a few lines. He also reflects on friendship and memories, stating that whenever he feels good about his friends, whether day or night, he keeps a pen and paper handy to capture those words, while keeping the memories in his heart.

Regarding his activity level, Kothari mentions that he was not very active until about 10 years ago. However, having more time and developing these hobbies led him to associate with multiple organizations. He credits the love and support of his friends and family for enabling him to perform these roles well.

He cites his father as his definitive role model. Most of his life philosophy—including fulfilling responsibilities, conducting business, connecting with society, and his hobby of writing—has been inherited from his father. He opens up about a challenging period in 2018 when business situations caused him to feel nervous and slip into a state of depression. While he does not recall the exact quote now, he remembers reading quotes written by others that helped him get back on his feet and move away from that difficult state. Today, he is very happy, and his life is proceeding smoothly. He believes that no person can be successful without struggle.

Looking back at his early life and education, Vinod Kothari shares that he completed his LLB in 1984. At that time, he wished to pursue further education. However, being the only son, his father expected him to join the parental work. Facing significant family responsibilities and having little income, he entered a life of struggle. To establish the business, he needed an ideal and sufficient amount of capital. His father’s instruction was simple: \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Son, you have to do this.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" Vinod accepted, promising, \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Father, this will be done.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" Today, his family, society, and friends know him for who he is. While everyone dreams of doing a lot, and he feels he may not have done \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"much,\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" he is very satisfied with his achievements. He views his past not as a struggle, but as an integral part of his growth.

He then elaborates on the history and significance of Rotary. Founded about 117-118 years ago by Mr. Paul Harris and his four friends, the aim was to utilize time for a good cause. The first goal was fellowship, followed by community service and charity. Today, with a history spanning over a century, Rotary International has 12-13 lakh members worldwide and is recognized by the US government. It operates as an international organization with strict rules and regulations that all clubs follow.

The founder’s dream was to create a fellowship of 20 members from different fields. This diversity—including engineers, doctors, businessmen, and technical experts—ensures that members can have their daily needs and problems sorted out quickly through mutual help and guidance. This philosophy of fellowship remains the most important aspect; it brings people together to help one another.

On the front of community service, Rotary took on the massive task of Polio eradication. Investing millions of dollars, they have been largely successful, leaving only one or two countries where the issue persists. Other projects include literacy initiatives, such as opening schools in slum areas to educate children and guide them into careers. Kothari emphasizes that Rotary is viewed with immense respect in society. A Rotarian wearing a pin is recognized globally; even in a mall in another country, fellow Rotarians will greet them warmly, invite them to their homes, and offer help.

He notes that over the last 10-15 years, children have increasingly stayed away from their parents for education and jobs, from childhood through to married life. His advice to the youth is that they should indeed step away from their roots if it means accessing better opportunities. In many cities, children do not get opportunities that match their education and expectations. By moving away, they can secure better education and jobs. He also observes that middle-aged parents today often lack time management and have an excessive social life, leaving them without \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"ideal time\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" for their children. Consequently, he feels many children have become self-made but also egoistic, estimating that 20-25% of kids who get married today display such ego.
