With his beautiful mural paintings that depict the merger of Rajasthani and Braj traditions, painter Vinod continues to nurture the arts.

Vinod is an artist from New Delhi.

He completed his elementary schooling in a Rajasthani border town, despite having been born in Braj. He completed his graduation from the Rajasthan School of Arts in Jaipur. Thereafter, he completed his master’s degree from the College of Arts in New Delhi. He shares that his upbringing was in a cultural ambience. Along with visiting Kavi Sammelans, he used to read literature a lot.

After earning his master's degree, Vinod started his career in 1997. He began his career in Jaipur, then relocated to Delhi, where he carried on. He met Surendra Pal in Delhi, who served as his mentor and taught him the nuances of painting. His passion for linework inspired him to combine everyday objects with tiny paintings, Ajanta-Ellora artwork, and other forms of art. His use of vivid, earthy colors is distinctive to his approach.

Transparency and sincerity, which Vinod claims are fundamental to his own nature, are qualities he attempts to incorporate into his artwork. He has nearly thirty years of experience in the field and has been featured in many national and international art shows.

Regarding the difficulties he encountered along his journey, Vinod adds that in the beginning it was challenging for him to make ends meet because he was self-employed. He claims that in the long run, everything worked out because he gradually inspired himself to be committed and diligent.

When asked about his accomplishments, Vinod responds that his first major success was receiving a state prize from the Rajasthan government's art council. For his contributions to the advancement of figurative and abstract art, he later won the Senior Publisher Award from the Indian government. His current project is an art series that aims to illustrate the Vedas graphically. He says it will be the biggest research project he has ever undertaken.

Vinod thinks that India's early art education needs to be properly organized because the country doesn't have many official training institutions or art councils that match the required criteria. If the government and society collaborate and support artists, he argues, it will be easier for them to contribute to society.

Vinod counsels aspiring artists to put in a lot of effort and to emphasize the rich cultural heritage of our nation. According to him, the trend among young people nowadays is towards abstraction, which is unfortunate because one should always remember one's roots and begin with the basics. He asserts that after mastering the fundamentals, you can select from a variety of art disciplines, including painting, applied arts, visual communication, and art history.

In his spare time, Vinod likes to travel, play chess, and hang out with his friends and family.

Vinod gives advice to everyone, saying that cultivating one's artistic side is essential for a happy existence. He claims that if everyone connects with their creative side, crime rates will also go down since it will allow them to express their innermost feelings and thoughts through art.

Vinod ends by emphasizing that success comes from having a positive outlook and enjoying what you do.
