Vinita Mehta is an Interior Designer and the Owner of VR Interiors in Jodhpur. She is also the Head of the Department of Interior Designing at NIFD, Jodhpur, where she has been teaching for the past 10 years.
Currently, NIFD offers two types of courses: Fashion Designing and Interior Designing. They are planning to launch beauty courses in the near future, says Vinita.
Vinita recalls that she completed her schooling from St. Patrick's School in Jodhpur. She pursued her BA and then did a polytechnic diploma, where she achieved a gold medal. She also received the Bhamashah and Vishwakarma awards and started her own practice. She gained internship experience under Rajesh Bohra and has been providing freelance interior design services for the past 26 years.
Vinita shares that she faced difficulties when she started working in the field of interior designing. She claims to be the first female in Jodhpur to pursue interior designing.
In her childhood, Vinita was creative and inclined towards sports. However, she did not receive positive responses in sports, so she decided to focus on her creativity and entered the field of interior designing.
Vinita excelled in volleyball at the district level for three years and achieved first place in the junior section of skating. She also coached lawn tennis. However, due to family obligations and a lack of opportunities, she had to leave sports. Nevertheless, she encourages anyone with a sporting streak to pursue a career in sports.
When asked, Vinita says she finds inspiration from everything around her, but her role model in the field of interior designing is Rajesh Bohra, her former teacher. She aspires to become like him and is also inspired by her team.
Vinita remembers that during her internship, she initially had no practical knowledge, but she gained valuable experience under Rajesh Bohra. She believes that internships are essential for everyone.
Vinita enjoys her work and believes that interior designing is a vast field with limitless possibilities. She believes that one can continue learning through study and experience.
Vinita lives by the motto "Work for quality, not quantity." She resonates with this quote as the field of interior designing demands the same level of commitment.
Her message to aspiring interior designers is that it is a great field but it requires hard work. She advises aspiring designers to approach the field with honesty and dedication.
Vinita believes that NIFD Jodhpur is an excellent place for learning Interior Designing and Fashion Designing. She praises the helpful faculty there who are always ready to assist students in their respective fields.
Her message to all the Indians is that they should use their rights responsibly and strive to be good citizens for the development of the nation.
