Vimla says that her school time experiences of debates and writing competitions as well as her father’s encouragement to write motivated her to become a good writer.
Vilma’s foremost role model is her father, followed by her husband, who was her political role model. Vimla says that her role models have been changing with the changing times and situations.
Vimla became a Parshad in the Salumber Nagar Palika in 1994-95 for the first time when she was persuaded to fight the election as a certain number of seats had been reserved for women. Moreover, she also won the Zila Parishad Elections. She says when she worked in the political field, she experienced the sorry state of the poor people in the country. These experiences helped her work more for the people. She was also able to rebuild seven out of ten dry ponds and eradicate the problem of water in a village. Throughout her political journey, her husband was her constant support.
