Keep your fighting spirit alive throughout your life.
Vimal Kumar Agarwal was born and brought up in Udaipur, Rajasthan. His family has been residing in Udaipur for many generations. He did his schooling from various local schools and then he went on to graduate from the Maharana Bhupal College of Udaipur. Vimal did his masters and LLB from the M.B. college itself.
Vimal began searching for a job after completing his education, and soon he got a job in the Janta College, Dabok as a Lecturer of Law. After working in Janta College for about a year, he started working for the Rajasthan government as an Investigator in the Department of Industrial Survey. After working one year for the Rajasthan government, he left the job and began working for the central government in the mining department. Vimal got posted for about one and a half years in the Amli village of Bhilwara district, which had a concentration of Mica mineral.
Vimal changed his job once again and this time he was working for the Rajasthan government’s Public Welfare Department as a District Probation Officer. He worked on several different posts from then on, in the same department. He was posted all over Rajasthan during his career, while most of his posting was in Udaipur only.
In the Public Welfare Department, Vimal’s main job was criminal rehabilitation and inducting them into mainstream society. Once, there was talk of shutting down this department and the related posts due to some political issues. This worried Vimal but eventually the posts were kept intact. After some time, the criminal and social(SC/ST) welfare department were integrated into one and Vimal was posted in the integrated department. Initially he and his fellow officers were very much enthused to work for SC/ST welfare, but due to the conservative social setting, their job was frowned upon and this led to the gradual degradation of their interest for this work.
Vimal retired from service in the Rajasthan government in 1990, and took charge of running his family business. He managed the business till year 2000 and then his children grew-up so he handed over the business to them and thus finally retired from professional life.
Vimal liked traveling and sightseeing very much. His family had a “Baadi” in the old city where he used to go with his friends to enjoy and have a good time. After he got married, he and his wife would go to various tourist places in Udaipur and they would also venture into the jungle, although it was neither allowed nor safe, just to get a feel of adventure.
During the COVID period, Vimal’s family stopped going outside and especially restricted him to go out and gave clear instructions to his driver not to take him anywhere to ensure the safety of his health.
Vimal took great inspiration from his elder sister.
Reading journals and travelling were Vimal’s favorite hobbies.
Vimal advised the youth to never become complacent and keep working restlessly. He thought that, the moment anyone gets satisfied with their work or becomes complacent, they lose the scope for improvement and eventually they stop trying to be better. He also advised them to equip themselves with good education and technical knowledge so that they make good decisions in life and make a successful career for themselves.
