Vikas Londhe is from Pune. He is a Dancer and Choreographer.
He says that his interest in Dance started blooming from his school days. Vikas was an introvert in school and had very few friends. He informs that changing four to five schools also limited his friend’s circle. When he was in the fourth standard, he took part in a school event and came to realize that he could dance. His friends and teachers also started appreciating him.
Vikas says that after that he used to participate in every Annual Function and other activities. He used to follow reality shows like Boogie-Woogie and dancers like Michael Jackson and Prabhu Deva.
Vikas says that initially, his parents were not aware of his dancing. However, they came to know about it through school teachers and friends, and slowly everybody in the family knew. His family was not supportive of this and wanted him to get into a government job as he was good at his studies. His father, being on the stricter side of parenting, didn’t like it much and wanted Vikas to focus more on his career and studies.
Vikas mentions that it was around 2008 that the dance reality show, Dance India Dance (DID) started and he became hooked on it. He came to know about different styles of dancing like Locking and Popping. He got exposed to the field and realized that it was a vast ocean and he had just started swimming in it. After watching DID every year, Vikas started following dancers like Dharmendra and Raghav. He was shocked to see their style of dancing and started following them. He realized that professional dancing requires a different kind of training as well as energy.
Vikas says that in 2012 he started his professional dancing. He started taking part in competitions and dance battles. In 2016, he started his own dance class. He says that even after that he continued his learning process and never stopped learning.
Vikas participated in two reality shows. The first one was ‘Boom-Boom’ which was organized by a local cable network. The second was Dance Maharashtra Dance. He performed exceptionally well in them and learned many things.
He feels that being from a middle-class family puts additional responsibility as everything has to be done by you only. You will have to choose a career path and work hard to achieve your goals. He says that Dance is a very emotional and testing field. It requires controlling your emotions and being self-motivated always.
Vikas advises the new generation wishing to come into this field to keep two things in mind: Patience and Motivation. He says that there is nothing like overnight success. One has to work hard to create a name for themselves. He further adds that people around us will demotivate us. However, all this should affect us in any way. Vikas feels that self-doubt can destroy your passion for the field and should not be allowed to creep in. Vikas says that he takes motivation from great dancers like Michael Jackson.
Vikas says that the only Success Mantra he has in life is to be patient and keep increasing our knowledge.
