Everyone gets a moment to become great in their life, seize that moment.
Vikas Kumar (Jainth) is a Choreographer and Owner of the Gravity Dance Studio.
Vikas hails from Meerut, UP. He was born and brought up in a village near Meerut, and completed his education there itself. He grew up in impoverished conditions and had to financially support himself for his studies. Growing up, he says he always had a knack for dancing, singing, and acting. Recognising his talent, one of his teachers in school encouraged and taught him the basics of the art. Later on, he came to Meerut to pursue his B.Com and joined a dance academy alongside his graduation.
Vikas never planned to become a professional dancer and practised it only as a hobby. Being a good student, he prepared for various government exams and also cleared some of them but never joined, as, by that time, his dancing career had taken off. He also tried his luck in acting and singing but eventually had to drop them as it was not lucrative enough for him.
Talking about his dance academy, Vikas says that he started it 10-15 years ago when there were no formal dance academies in Meerut. He organised dance competitions and introduced formal dance training in Meerut, and has produced many good dancers over the years. He and his wife both manage the academy, being the chief choreographers and owners of the same. He is also associated with event choreography.
Vikas considers anyone who can do good in any sphere of life as his role model. He says that those are the people we should look up to. However, he says that his role model is Hon. PM Narendra Modi. Along with it, he also says that his parents and his wife have been his huge supporters in life and he appreciates them for that.
Sharing his COVID experience Vikas says he enjoyed the initial days of the lockdown, spending time with his family and staying at home. But when the lockdown was extended and the situation became serious, he fell short on his finances. He consequently started teaching dance online which proved to be a successful idea as he started teaching dancers from all around the world. Thus, he says that, on the brighter side, the pandemic opened many opportunities for people.
In his free time, Vikas enjoys singing and writing poetry. He says that dancing is also his hobby, which earns him money and soothes his soul. He also likes going out with his friends and spending time with his family.
Advising budding artists, Vikas says that first complete your education which is most important. He goes on to say that initially you shouldn’t go after money, but rather focus on developing skills and finding a mentor.
Vikas also cites the example of Ramayana to say that look for the good in people and ignore the bad things.
