A self-taught artist, Vijay resorted to YouTube to learn the nitty-gritty of tattoo making. With his smart work and self-belief, he started his own tattoo training school in Ahmedabad.

Vijay Sharma is a tattoo artist and the owner of Dragon Tattoos Gallery. He hails from Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Recalling his childhood, Vijay says that he was born and brought up in Ahmedabad, where he completed his education in Hindi medium. Vijay has a Bachelor’s in Commerce.

Discussing his struggles, Vijay shares that before opening his tattoo studio, he worked at a retail shop and also assisted his father in his furniture business. When Vijay identified the artist within him, he started learning to tattoo on his own. Challenges came when he realised the heavy cost involved in purchasing tattoo equipment. At that time, Vijay sold his minicomputer to buy a tattoo machine. He was not supported well by his friends and family.

Sharing his pandemic experience, Vijay says he started his online tattoo platform, where he served as a guiding light to many youngsters, helping them solve life's problems. After thorough planning and utilising the COVID time, Vijay started his tattoo training school.

Describing his achievements, Vijay says that he learned tattoo making with the help of YouTube. Since then, he has launched 7+ tattoo studios in Ahmedabad, and 358+ students have learned under his guidance.

When asked about his role models, Vijay says that he considers himself his own role model, since he believes he is his own competitor and his own support.

Drawing a comparison between education and experience, Vijay says that education can help you only to a certain level, but it is your life experiences that give you the real taste of the world.

When free, Vijay likes to be productive and creative. He does not like killing time on social media. His hobbies include drawing and reading books.

His success mantra is to get up from his failures and learn from his mistakes.

He concludes by saying that tattoos create memories of a lifetime, which is not there in any other profession.
