Life is balancing art, interest, and profession.
Vidya Subramanian is the founder of the non-profit organization ‘1MinuteDancing’. With the aid of her NGO, Vidya is assisting other individuals in rediscovering their dance, just as she did herself. Recalling her childhood in Kerala, Vidya says her family always encouraged her to dance and provided all facilities. Later, she and her family relocated to Gujarat, where she attended middle and high school in Ahmedabad. She continued her dance until college, but after becoming a software engineer, she left dance behind and took a job. She started dancing again during the pandemic, and founded the NGO 1MinuteDancing to encourage others to dance.
Talking about her mistakes, Vidya says her mistake was to abandon dance and focus on a career as an engineer in her 20s. She learned that keeping a balance between passion and career is difficult but important for a person.
When asked about her role models, Vidya says her mother had influenced her in taking up dancing and is her role model.
Vidya believes that it is important to have a good balance between a professional career and personal interests to have a feeling of mental peace. Yoga also helps relieve stress.
Vidya’s mantra for life is "Live and let live."
