A Kathak exponent, Vidha earned name and fame in multiple art genres by her sheer hard work.  She says that whatever she is today, she has not inherited it, she has earned it.

A multifaceted Kathak exponent, Vidha Lal is a disciple and daughter-in-law of the renowned guru and  Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Geetanjali Lal of the Jaipur Gharana of Kathak.

Vidha learned this art form from the National Institute of Kathak, Kathak Center, New Delhi. After completing her 13 years course from Kathak Center, she studied for about 15-20 more years under her guru Geetanjali Lal. She has been in the Kathak field for the past thirty years.

Recalling her childhood, Vidha says that she had an inclination towards dance since childhood, which her parents understood and so got her admitted to the National School of Kathak. This is how her dance journey began.

Apart from dance, Vidha was also interested in other genres of art and culture. She used to paint, had an interest in fashion, and was a Doordarshan-approved child artist. She has worked in many tele-films and TV serials. She has also done voiceover work for All India Radio and several cartoon films. For five years, she hosted Doordarshan's "Tarang" program. She says she could become a professional artist because of her family's unwavering support.

Speaking about her challenges, Vidha says that she faced a lot of challenges being in the dance field since childhood.In addition to attending school, she also had to attend her Kathak classes, and she made an effort to be the best in both areas. While many of her friends started working after finishing college and began succeeding, she used to feel a little low because her education and initiation were still in progress. She says that the art field is such a field in which you do not see the other end of it, you just have to keep going continuously, you have to continue your practice, only then your dance improves with time and age. She struggled to find acceptance from many people because she turned into a professional dancer while still in her working years. But she persisted in her quest and never gave up.

When asked about her role models, Vidha says that she considers her Kathak guruGeetanjali Lal as her role model. She has learned not only dance but also life lessons from her.

Vidha likes to do drawing and painting in her free time. Apart from this, she also gives time to jewelry making. She likes to watch TV, especially Bollywood movies. Spending time with her son is also a stress buster for her.

Vidha's life mantra is to be patient, to avoid extreme measures, and to remember that God is always aware of her diligent efforts. She thinks that spreading love and positivity to others is important because what you give comes back to you.

Vidha advises aspiring dancers to be patient, keep practicing, and respect their gurus and others. She says that one will achieve better results if they work harder.
