Veena Torchi is the Owner of the Arty Vegan Cafe. She says that her cafe is more of a labor of love than business.
Veena came to Pushkar about forty years ago and is now enjoying her life after having a well-settled family. She says that she wanted to introduce the people of Rajasthan to Soybean. Veena further adds that they use almost every part of soybean and hence they make their own soya milk, tofu, and more. She has established her cafe in Hotel Pushkar Inn and is very happy to be able to introduce people to vegan food and sustainability.
Recalling her childhood memories, Veena says that she grew up in Durban which is situated by the sea in South Africa. She shares a memory of her childhood when they used to pluck fruits from the trees and enjoy their childhood a lot.
Veena says that Vegan is a new concept in India. She aims to make people understand that Soya is the future food if they cook it with the right spices and ingredients. She says that soya is very healthy and full of energy and each part of soya can be used in cooking.
Talking about her role models, Veena says that her husband is the one for her. Her husband is very open-minded and creative and is an inspiration to her.
If Veena were to choose between education and experience, Veena says that both education and experience go hand in hand. She says that she grew up in different cities around the world, which gave her the ideas and experience to make healthy dishes. She says that in her cafe, not any part of the food is wasted and everything is used in one way or the other.
