Despite the obstacles, Veena was eager to start her own business. She began small with a photocopy shop and gradually expanded to a clothing business.

Veena Kumar is the owner of Sai Garments in New Delhi.

Veena belongs to Malviya Nagar, Delhi. She did her schooling at Malviya Government High Secondary School. Then she got married and came to Munirka. She had her own small business in Vasant Kunj in New Delhi, which she started in 1997, which was a photocopy and STD shop. Then, when the mobile era came in 2006–07, their business totally declined. At that time, her children were studying, so she started a garments business on a small scale and eventually took it to the next level. She now deals in branded goods, and her younger son also helps her in her business.

Sharing about her struggles, Veena says that her difficult time was in 2009–10 when her husband got ill. Both his kidneys had failed; she took him to different hospitals for treatment and got his kidney transplanted on December 1, 2010. She even got help from her husband's office staff. Her family members and her children supported her throughout. She says that during COVID 19, she lost her husband, and her business was also suffering losses. It was challenging for her to manage everything.

To all those who want to start their own business, Veena advises them that first of all, your way of talking should be good, which will attract customers, and you should also have good-quality products. She has devoted 13 years to her work. She has good experience in both her businesses.

For Veena, both education and experience are essential in life. Without education, you cannot work. And without experience, you cannot utilize your knowledge.

When asked about her role models, Veena says that she has faith in Sai Baba, who is her inspiration and has even kept her shop’s name, Sai Garments.

If given a chance to go back in time in a time machine, Veena would like to do something good for her husband, which she could not do when he was with her.
