Vedant Singh Solanki serves as the Investment & Portfolio Management Head at Friday FX, where he oversees key financial responsibilities, including allocation of clients’ funds, financial planning, and asset management.
Vedant Singh Solanki says his academic background is firmly rooted in the field of Finance, complemented by an impressive collection of 17 certificates and five research papers in the same field. Notably, two of his research papers have been published, focusing on the Share Market and Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs). Solanki also went on a Student Exchange Program when he was in 12th grade. He has always strived to groom himself and build an impressive personality with a powerful aura, which he considers an achievement in itself.
Vedant Singh Solanki topped in his first-semester exams at his university. He believes that being Shreshta (superior) and being Uttam (best) are fundamentally different. According to him, striving for superiority often hinders the journey to becoming the best. To truly be the best, one must compete with oneself. Solanki strongly believes that achieving personal excellence and being the best in our own eyes is the ultimate accomplishment.
Solanki’s journey into the world of finance began at a family gathering, where his curiosity about the share market was met with a dismissive comment from his paternal uncle: “The share market is a gamble, and kids don’t need to know about it.” Rather than discouraging him, this interaction fueled his determination to learn more. He later sought guidance from an uncle in his neighborhood, who introduced him to the fundamentals of the share market and shares, laying the foundation for his interest.
Vedant’s passion for finance began in 11th grade, as he delved into studying the share market, mutual funds, company indices, market indices, and related topics. After passing 12th grade, he enrolled at Manipal University, where one of his professors recognized his sharp intellect and curiosity for the financial domain and suggested a career in investment banking. Building upon this advice, Solanki pursued his master’s degree abroad at the University of Greenwich, London, after completing his bachelors. His academic excellence earned him a spot among the top-performing students at the university.
Reflecting on his early days, Vedant Singh Solanki says he was born in Secunderabad, a city now in Telangana, which was formerly part of Andhra Pradesh. His grandfather served in the army, which is why he was born in Secunderabad. However, Vedant spent his formative years in Tanzania, Africa, due to his father's occupation as a geologist in Shanti Gold Mines. In 2012, Vedant moved to Udaipur, where he spent the rest of his childhood and completed his schooling at Central Public School (CPS), Udaipur.
Sharing a glimpse of his childhood memories, Vedant Solanki recalls that while he has several college time experiences, one statement from his uncle left a profound and lasting impact on him. His uncle referred to the share market as a gamble, which sparked Vedant’s curiosity and determination to learn more about the field. He reflects that if it hadn’t been for that comment, he might not have strived so hard to understand the intricacies of the share market and achieve the success he enjoys today.
When asked about his role models, Vedant Solanki says he draws inspiration from the beliefs and values of Swami Vivekananda. Following Vivekananda’s teachings, Vedant dedicates time to meditation and observes a vow of silence, which helps him recharge and enhances his focus in his work. He also resonates with a saying attributed to Vivekananda: “If a person has simplicity and humility, he can attain success in all aspects of life.”
Additionally, Solanki admires Shahrukh Khan for prioritizing his family despite achieving immense fame and success. He is inspired by individuals who overcome struggles to turn their dreams into reality and deeply values people who respect time, believing that those who honour time are, in turn, honoured by it.
“Make things happen” is one of the quotes shared by Vedant’s father, which has now become his life mantra. Solanki believes that decision-making plays a crucial role in life and asserts that there is no inherently right or wrong decision—it all depends on the circumstances.
In his message to aspiring investment enthusiasts, Vedant Solanki emphasizes the importance of taking one’s education seriously, as external knowledge alone is insufficient in this field. He believes that studying with full concentration and focus transforms learning into a skill, making one proficient and capable. According to Vedant, true success lies in striving to achieve something meaningful not only for oneself but also for society. With this mindset, he assures, one can overcome every challenge life presents.
To end his story, Vedant Solanki shares a universal message: possessing the power to make decisions, regardless of circumstances, enables one to overcome all hurdles and achieve success.
