After working in the energy sector for many years, Varun ventured out on his own to utilize his expertise to educate people about environmentally friendly practices and save mother earth.

Varun Gaur is a green energy consultant and the founder of De Calorie Energy Consultant LLP, Jaipur.

Varun was born and brought up in Delhi. He completed his initial schooling in Delhi itself. Then his family shifted to Jaipur and he completed the remainder of his schooling there itself. Then he did a B.Tech.(Hons.) in Electrical Engineering from RTU, Kota. He also did a Masters in Energy Management.

After completing his bachelors, Varun worked at the supercritical thermal power plant in Allahabad for many years. Then he realized that he should utilize his expertise in energy management and environmental sustainability in doing something of his own. That’s when his venture, De Calorie Energy Consultant LLP was born. His venture primarily works on the green economy and environmental sustainability to protect mother nature.

Varun explains that a green building is a construction project that is aimed at reducing the negative impacts of carbon emissions on the environment. And his venture helps in designing buildings in a way to achieve environmental sustainability.

Talking about his struggles, Varun says that everybody faces struggles in their life and he too faced his share of struggles. He lost his elder brother when he was in high school and it was a major setback for him. Besides, he had to study hard to make the financial conditions of his family better. He worked really hard and topped in his bachelors.

Talking about COVID, Varun says that the pandemic was a really tough time for him as he had just founded his venture a couple of days prior to the first occurrence of the pandemic. He also had many things planned up that he could not fulfill owing to the pandemic. However, his positive attitude toward life helped him beat those tough times.

Talking about his achievements, Varun shares that his firm got a Startup India Award. Besides, his firm was also acknowledged under iStart Rajasthan, a flagship initiative by the government of Rajasthan for startups in Rajasthan. Further, the World Green Building Council accepted his firm as a green movement partner.

Varun doesn’t think that he was a born leader. He is working every day to emerge as a good leader. His leadership style is to work alongside his team to boost their morale.

Talking about his role models, Varun says that he learns a lot from his father and his father is worthy of being emulated. Besides, Elon Musk, and Jack Ma also greatly inspire him.

In his spare time, Varun likes to spend time with his family and plan trips to hill stations. Besides, he likes to read books on entrepreneurship.

To anyone who wants to work in the environmental sustainability sector, Varun advises them to be keenly interested in protecting the environment and mother nature. Besides, he says to them that this is really a good and potent sector that offers you a chance to work for nature whilst at the same time earning money for yourselves.

His Success Mantra is that one must have the courage to pursue their dreams. Besides, he says that one must never quit in life and whenever they feel like quitting they should always go back to what made them start in the first place.

To the youngsters, he advises them to shoulder their responsibility to protect mother nature as the hopes of the future rest upon their shoulders.
