Dr. Vakar Hussain turned life’s struggles into shining success through faith and creativity, crafting a remarkable collection of 2500+ Ganesha Idols in different mudras and colors.  Creating world records, and gaining hundreds of awards has been the hallmark of his career.

Dr. Vakar Hussain is an internationally acclaimed Crystal Glass Artist from Udaipur. With over 35 years of experience in this intricate art form, his career has been filled with countless challenges and relentless efforts—but he never gave up.

Originally, this craft was prominently practiced in Belgium, but today, Glass Artist Hussain stands as a master who has even guided and inspired artists from that very region. His expertise and passion have earned him global recognition, and he humbly acknowledges the support of many individuals who have walked alongside him throughout this artistic path.

Dr. Vakar Hussain has primarily created idols of Lord Ganesha in crystal glass, which remain among his most cherished works. However, his artistic vision goes far beyond. With deep respect for all faiths, he has crafted idols for diverse religious communities—such as Lord Parshwanath for Jainism, symbolic pieces for the Muslim community, and Jesus Christ for Christians.

Beyond religious figures, he also brings to life elements from nature—trees, animals, and more—crafted entirely from crystal, tailored to customer preferences. For Dr. Vakar Hussain, nothing is impossible in crystal; he proudly states that he can even create furniture like sofas and dining tables using this delicate medium. His work reflects both limitless imagination and extraordinary craftsmanship.

One of his most celebrated recent creations is a magnificent Ram Darbaar, which gained national attention and was featured on various Indian television channels. The recognition it received inspired Dr. Vakar Hussain to gift this masterpiece to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a token of devotion and artistry.

Pushing the boundaries of what crystal can offer, Dr. Vakar Hussain has also crafted pieces that people never imagined possible—like grand chandeliers measuring 18 feet in height with a 10x10-foot diameter and weighing over 7 quintals. These stunning works rival the grand chandeliers once made in Belgium, and Hussain proudly says he has recreated them in India with his own hands.

Beyond divine idols and lighting marvels, he has also sculpted intricate trees, animals, and even educational models. One such piece was a crystal village scene created to raise awareness about cleanliness—depicting how we can keep our villages and cities clean. Through every creation, Hussain aims not just to beautify spaces, but to inspire thought, learning, and cultural pride.

World Record Holder Dr. Vakar Hussain believes that all the hard work and struggles he has endured in life have been rewarded. He has received numerous prestigious honors, with over 100 awards to his name and 52 world records. Among all these, one award holds a special place in his heart—the Maharana Sajjan Singh Award, which he received at the City Palace. The award was presented to him by Shri Arvind Singh Mewar, a moment he cherishes deeply, especially because it was in the name of Maharana Sajjan Singh Ji, whom Hussain considers a great source of inspiration.

He recalls the immense joy of not just receiving the award, but also of sharing the stage with legendary personalities such as Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Lata Mangeshkar, Maharaj Dhurmil Kumar, and other great dignitaries. For Dr. Vakar Hussain, standing on the same stage as Lata Mangeshkar and Dr. Kalam remains one of the biggest achievements of his life.

Talking about what inspired him to join this profession, Dr. Vakar Hussain shares that he was deeply influenced by Maharana Sajjan Singh Ji, who had a great fondness for crystal art. As a child, Dr. Vakar once read about Maharana Sajjan Singh’s love for crystal chandeliers, sofas, and dining tables—many of which are now preserved in the City Palace's Crystal Art Gallery in Udaipur. That story left a lasting impression on him, inspiring him to dedicate his life to the world of crystal art.

With the blessings of God and by sheer determination, he kept moving forward in this field. He believes that his artistic inclination was innate—ever since he was in first grade, he would transform ordinary objects into something completely different through his imagination. Hussain fondly says that he believes God sent him into this world to be an artist.

Dr. Vakar Hussain recalls that when he first began his career as a Crystal Glass Artist, he started with small decorative pieces. But soon, he felt a deeper calling—to create something truly unique and meaningful. That’s when he turned his focus toward crafting idols of Lord Ganesha. Since then, he has created over 2,500 distinct postures of Lord Ganesha in crystal, each radiating devotion and craftsmanship.

Crystal Glass Artist Dr. Vakar Hussain shares that all his intricate crystal work is done personally at his home. He explains that this art requires immense patience and precision, as there is absolutely no room for error. The process involves using two types of gases during the making phase, and any slight imbalance in their combination can lead to a dangerous blast. That’s why he prefers to work in a controlled and focused environment.

Beyond the art itself, Dr. Vakar Hussain holds a heartfelt dream—to one day build a large-scale workshop where he can train and mentor young artists, especially those who come from challenging backgrounds like he did. He believes that if he can find such children, he will dedicate himself to shaping them into skilled artisans, just as he shaped his own life through perseverance and hard work. This, he says, is a promise he has made to himself. While he has already begun helping a few youngsters, his aim is to expand this effort on a much larger scale.

Reflecting on his early years, Dr. Vakar Hussain shares that he was born and raised in Udaipur, where his childhood was filled with both sweet and bitter memories. His father worked at the Bata Company and was transferred to Agra, but young Dr. Vakar stayed behind in Udaipur to continue his education. During that time, financial constraints forced him to survive on meals costing just ₹350–500 per month. However, life has taken a complete turn—today, there are many 5-star and 7-star hotels where people don’t even let him pay the bill. He expresses deep gratitude for everything he has received, attributing it all to divine blessings.

His life began in Udaipur itself, where he completed his education and eventually learned the art of glasswork from his mentor, Kanu Shah. Over time, he transitioned into crystal glass artistry, and the pieces he created gained widespread recognition. Hussain fondly remembers how his guru once told him that he would achieve great success and fulfill the dreams his teacher couldn't. These words, along with the blessings of his parents and grandparents, continue to inspire him.

Whenever Hussain receives major awards, he pauses in silence for a few seconds amidst the crowd, imagining his parents and guru in that moment. His father has always been his role model, and he feels that every blessing given by him has come true. Hussain emphasizes that while one may achieve many things in life, it's important never to forget the people who stood by you during difficult times. He still remembers every individual in Udaipur who supported and encouraged him, especially during the low points in his life.

International Artist Hussain believes that what truly matters is not what the country has done for you, but what you have contributed to the country. His heartfelt wish is that when his final time arrives, he is honored with the national flag draped over him—symbolizing his devotion to Bharat Mata.

Today, Hussain says he has no expectations left—no desire for more accolades or recognition—because he feels that his country has already given him everything he ever dreamed of.

Dr. Vakar Hussain says that if he is ever given a chance to travel back in time through a time machine, he would wish for only one thing — to be born again as a proud son of Bharat Mata (Mother India). He dreams of once again taking birth from his mother’s womb, learning to walk by holding his father’s finger, and growing up with the sole purpose of doing something meaningful for his country.

He wishes to relive the life of earning accolades, making his nation proud, and dedicating his talents once again to the service and glory of India.

Hussain shares that during his struggle phase, there were a few songs that deeply inspired and motivated him. One such song was from the film Ganga Ki Saugandh — "Chal Musafir Chal, Teri Manzil Door Hai To Kya Hua" — which gave him strength to keep moving forward despite the distance from his goals. Another song that left a lasting impact on him was from the movie Shor — "Jeevan Chalne Ka Naam" — a line that became a guiding principle for him.

He adds that there are also some poets who write verses that resonate universally. Their words, though personal, can connect with anyone who chooses to relate. Such lines, filled with depth and emotion, have supported and motivated him throughout his career — and even today, he remembers them often as a source of strength.

Dr. Vakar Hussain encourages the younger generation to set a clear goal in life, whether they are pursuing education or working in any professional field. He believes that once a goal is defined, one must stay committed and work tirelessly towards it with focus and determination.

He acknowledges that in the pursuit to success, there will always be individuals who try to hold you back. However, he emphasizes the importance of continuing to move forward without letting negativity take root. According to him, maintaining a positive mindset is key—one should firmly believe, “If I’ve decided to do something, then I must see it through.”

Dr. Vakar Hussain also shares his deep belief that when someone chases a dream with true dedication—mind, body, and soul—then divine forces align to support their path. In his view, persistence, belief, and hard work can transform any individual into a successful person.

He shares that creating the Ram Darbar was a process filled with immense time, dedication, and effort. It became a true purpose of his life—especially in today’s environment, where divisions based on religion are often emphasized. Through this creation, he wanted to send a powerful message: that beyond all differences, we are one—we are all Indians.

With this belief in unity, he meticulously crafted the Ram Darbar, which features Shri Ram, Mata Janki, Lakshman Ji, and Hanuman Ji. The installation was then placed inside a specially designed glass box equipped with touch sensors. Whenever someone touches the feet of any of the divine figures, a devotional bhajan in praise of Shri Ram begins to play—creating a spiritual and interactive experience.

He didn’t stop there. He also sculpted an idol of Shri Ram Lalla, which is now established in Ayodhya. This particular idol holds special significance as it is made from black crystal glass—a medium that, until now, no one had attempted to use for such a divine representation. The process involved multiple re-takes and trials, as working with black crystal glass posed many challenges. Yet, he persevered until the idol was perfectly formed, driven by devotion and determination.

Lastly, Dr. Vakar Hussain shares a heartfelt message for everyone: always keep working hard, because the effort you put in will be rewarded by the Almighty with results four times greater. He emphasizes that to move forward in life, your complete focus and dedication must remain on your work. With unwavering concentration and consistent effort, success is bound to follow.
