Vaibhav says that his team had just returned from an exposure tour to Turkey when they came to know about the expanse of Covid. Everyone had to go to their respective hometowns and all activities and practice sessions completely stopped. They were gearing up for the U-17 Women’s Football World Cup which was to happen in 2020 and was then postponed to 2022. Still, sessions for senior teams have started and slowly things are getting back on track. He also appreciates the fact that AIFF helped players, financially and otherwise, to cope with the tough times.
On a personal level, Vaibhav says that he too lost many people to this disease. He started training physically at home to keep himself fit. He got time with his family.
Vaibhav says that Education and Experience go hand in hand. A good education helps in getting better opportunities and a prior experience in the field helps in better learning of the process.
Vaibhav says that he has learned a lot from his mother who has been a pillar of strength in his life. He also tries to learn from everyone around him, be it his superiors or juniors.
Vaibhav says that Leadership is about bringing the best out of everyone and self-learning. He personally does not believe in micromanaging people as everyone is different.
Talking about achievements, Vaibhav says that when they won the SAFF Championship in Bhutan, it was a great proud moment for him. Also, managing his first project which was taking the U-16 Boys Football Team to Italy for an Exposure Tour was also a great experience of his lifetime.
Vaibhav says that he had a troubled childhood but would not like to change anything as it made him what he is today.
Vaibhav feels that we should always be hungry about winning and progress one step at a time in life.
