Vaibhav Jain is a Contact Center Consultant with Infosys in New Jersey, USA.
Vaibhav originally hails from Sirohi but his family settled in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh a long time ago. He has been working with Infosys for the past ten years.
Vaibhav shares that he never seemed to understand the concepts of chemistry and biology. However, physics and mathematics were his favorite subjects which drove him to make his career in engineering only. Later, when he enrolled in engineering, he was skeptical about whether he should opt for IT engineering or computer science engineering. However, his father always told him to work hard to achieve his goals and never to divert from them whenever they seemed unachievable. He chose IT engineering and later found it interesting.
Vaibhav says that he always liked mobile networking and telecommunication and during his bachelors he focused mainly on these areas. His first project at Infosys was related to mobile networking and telecommunication only, he says.
Talking about his role models, Vaibhav says that his father, teachers, and seniors at the workplace, who always guided him in the right direction, have been his role models.
Talking about his childhood, Vaibhav says that his childhood was spent in a joint family. He had four siblings. Since his brother was quite older than him, he spent his childhood with his sisters mostly. He is reminiscent of playing outdoor physical games, watching TV serials on Doordarshan, and playing video games with his brother.
Vaibhav advises people never to say no to new experiences and learnings in life. However, they should also know how to organize things and when to say no.
Talking about COVID, Vaibhav says that the pandemic changed his life all of a sudden. It helped him save money that would otherwise be spent on traveling and eating out. It also showed us that work can be done from home too, However, he says that ‘work from home’ resulted in undefined work hours which was not right in his opinion, he says. Besides, he says that the pandemic gave him more time to spend with his loved ones.
Talking about his achievements, Vaibhav says that getting an appreciation letter from his employer for solving a client-side problem was an achievement for him. And it made his father proud of him, he says.
To those who want to work in the IT sector, Vaibhav advises them to keep learning the relevant skills as he thinks that technological changes happen rapidly and to keep pace with them one should keep learning relevant skills.
Vaibhav has no regrets in life and would not want to change anything in his past. However, if he could go back in time via a Time Machine, he would want to relive his childhood when he was carefree and had nothing to look after.
To people, his message is to do what they feel comfortable doing and what really interests them without thinking about whether it’s a small or big job.
