Vaddadi Soumyasri Pawar is a Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam Dancer, Teacher, and a Research Scholar. She is also a Director at Devmudraa, a Movement School, which is a trust where she teaches classical dance to children, women, specially-abled and underprivileged children.
Soumyasri hails from Aurangabad. She has done her masters in Bharatanatyam and choreography from Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya. She is doing her P.hD in Dance and Drama in Disciplinary Subjects. Besides this, she also works as a contributory lecturer in Performing Arts at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.
Recalling her childhood memories, Soumyasri says that she was born and brought up in Andhra Pradesh. She says that she started dancing in her very childhood as she belonged to a family of classical dancers. She learned dancing under the guidance of her aunts Dr. Uma Rama Rao, Srimati Sumathi Kaushal, and Dr. Rajyalakshmi Seth; and thereafter shifted to Mumbai to pursue dancing as her career when her aunt suggested her to take up dance as her career.
Speaking about her challenges and mistakes, Soumyasri says that pursuing a career in performing arts is very challenging. Further, she adds that being a full-time dancer her journey has been a struggle. However, she feels that the outcome she gets after dancing and sharing her knowledge with people is all worth the struggle. She says that her journey as a classical dancer has been a roller coaster ride of happiness and challenges.
Soumyasri shares that earlier the field of dancing was very compact, but now the field has expanded. The upcoming aspirants get a lot of career options like performing in festivals, doing choreography, teaching, vlogging, and more.
When asked about her accomplishments, Soumyasri says that she has won the awards like CCRT Senior Fellowship by the Govt. of India, Best Director Award by Women Leadership Forum, and more. However, getting a supportive family and getting praised by people are her biggest achievements, she says.
Soumyasri advises people to be inclined toward spirituality and improving their inner selves. She believes in living and letting live and passing on her knowledge to people. Further, she advises aspiring youngsters to grow with their talent with dedication and consistency.
In her free time, Soumyasri loves listening to music, cooking, and traveling. She also loves gardening as it connects her to a new life.
