Always do what your heart says.
Usha Sharma is the owner of the Florence Continental Hotel in Udaipur. She has been running this hotel for the past nine years.
Usha was born and brought up in Udaipur and did her schooling at Guru Nanak Public School. After that she did B.Com. and M.Com. She has also done MBA in Finance from Pacific University and then worked in the administrative department of a college for one and a half years. After gaining experience, she joined her father in his hotel business.
Usha says that initially, it was tough for her in the business. She had to figure out ways to eradicate the negatives deep-rooted in her business but did it with full confidence.
Talking about the COVID-19 period, Usha says that it was a very bad time as earnings almost stopped and she had to manage maintaining expenses of the hotel. However, she also feels that the positive aspect of it was that she got time to spend with her family.
When asked about her role models, Usha says that her father is her role model as he taught her everything about the field. Also, even after not being educated, he struggled and started his own business which is very inspirational for Usha.
If given a time machine, Usha would like to go back and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. She says that her family wanted her not to take science and opt for the commerce field. However, she does not regret that decision now.
Usha says that when it comes to education and experience, both are important in life. She feels that earlier people used to have a business sense but now with changing scenarios, education in the field is a must.
In her free time, she likes reading books and traveling.
