Umesh Nagar hails from Padasalya village in the Kota district of Rajasthan. He did his primary education in his village itself, after which he went to a town to complete his secondary schooling. He pursued his high school education at Kota in the science stream. Then he did his mechanical engineering at Kota itself.
In his second year of graduation, Umesh became intrigued by government start-up initiatives. Despite initial challenges in finding feasible ideas, a visit to his village unveiled a crucial insight. Upon discovering a soil report at his home, he learned that excessive urea usage was degrading the land, turning it barren.
This gave Umesh the idea to start manufacturing compost manure and provide good-quality compost to the farmers. So he got on the job, and after enough R&D, he decided that vermicompost was the easiest and cheapest way to manufacture good-quality compost. After discussing his idea with his friends and family, Umesh started his company under the name “Rudra Agro Biotech Industries” in 2017. He started with 20 vermibeds initially, and now the number has grown to about 70 beds, and his plant has the capacity to generate about one lakh kilograms of vermicompost.
Umesh’s aim is to promote organic farming and replace chemical fertilizers and urea with organic composts. He also relishes that he is not only making a living for himself but is also giving employment to many people, which was the overall aim of his start-up initiative.
Umesh likes to attend and organize workshops on organic farming when he gets some time off from work. Playing cricket with his friends and listening to music are his favorite pastimes.
Umesh advises the youth to follow their passion and says they need not wait around for a job; rather, they can start something of their own. It will give them satisfaction and jobs for other people.
