Born and raised in a rural setting, Umang is a young founder who runs a textile company with the idea of bringing innovation and design to the traditional techniques of the textile industry.

Umang Shridhar is an entrepreneur and the founder of Umang Shridhar Designs Pvt. Ltd. Her organisation is an innovative handicraft textile company and works with 1500+ artisans across seventeen clusters and five states. Through her initiative, Umang also focuses on the khadi and handloom industries.

Talking about her early days, Umang says that she was born and brought up in a small village in Kishanganj, Madhya Pradesh. She belongs to a family of farmers and has spent ample time in a village.

Discussing her challenges, Umang says that identifying the right resource for her company has been tough for her. Understanding finances and business operations was another area where she struggled as a young founder. But Umang continued to grow by learning from her mistakes and with the constant support of her parents.

Speaking about her achievements, Umang says that seeing women grow as artisans while selling their products online and earning their share of income counts as a happy moment for her. Her dream is to cover one million artisans in the next five years.

When asked about her role models, Umang says she draws inspiration from her parents and her grandfather. She is also inspired by the late Ela Bhatt, founder of SEWA.

Sharing her hobbies, Umang says that she is a spiritual person who finds her peace in worshipping God. She is also fond of listening to music and going on drives.
