Ujjwal Bhardwaj is the CTO and founder of Stithi Innovations Pvt. Ltd. in Roorkee.
In 2017, Ujjwal finished her engineering degree. She has spent the last twenty years residing in Uttarakhand. She had always planned to be an engineer because the majority of her family members worked in this industry.
Recalling her childhood, Ujjwal says she spent the most of her youth in the mountains, which is why she has a strong connection to the natural world. She enjoys exchanging ideas because she thinks it makes it easier to remember things.
Talking about her journey, Ujjwal states that throughout her pre-final and final years of engineering school in Chennai, she came to appreciate the need to put her knowledge to use in the real world. She began taking part in college festivals and national-level industrial contests, where she worked on a number of robotics and electronics-related projects. She excelled in several competitions and received praise, which taught her the definition of originality. She navigated the system to apply her technical expertise in a practical way and launch her own business. Her business is currently engaged in social innovation projects.
Ujjwal’s success mantra has always been to think outside the box, keep learning, explore new things, and seize the opportunity. She believes that as the youth of our nation, we should always try to give something back to our country, and the best way to do that is by learning from our surroundings.
Ujjwal’s role model in life is her father, an executive engineer in the irrigation department of Uttarakhand, who taught her the ways of giving back to society. Her second role model is Dr. Ramesh Shrivastav from MIT, who taught her the meaning of the word ‘innovation’ and the ways of collaborating things together to make them work.
When asked about her mistakes, According to Ujjwal, in her last year of school, she turned down a job offer from Cisco with a better-than-average contract in favour of competing in a national competition. Her decision first confused her parents, friends, and all of her professors, but she won the competition and was given the opportunity to meet the President of India, which was a significant accomplishment for her.
The second mistake she made was to give up on a chance at a scholarship and do her masters. Rather, she chose to launch her start-up and faced a lot of difficulties for the initial six months. But then again, she was relieved when she was appreciated by the PM of Israel for her work on a project. But she holds no regrets, as without those mistakes, she would not have had a chance to experience those things, and she would not have been where she is now.
Ujjwal advises the young generation to take risks in life without worrying about profit margins because it’s a bargain to gain experience.
In her free time, Ujjwal likes to solve Sudoku puzzles. She is also fond of visiting pet restaurants and animal NGOs to relax and spend time with dogs and cattle.
