Tulsi is a Captain/Pilot and feels that this career has given her wings to fly in life. She always aspired to join the aviation field and opines that it has become more inclusive towards women over the past few years.

Tulsi Leekha is working as a Captain at Akasa Airways.

Tulsi was born in Mumbai and is living in Delhi. Flying is her passion and it gave her wings to achieve her dreams.

Talking about her childhood, Tulsi says that she was raised in a joint family which encouraged women to work and achieve their dreams. The support from her family really helped her achieve her dreams in life.

Sharing about her journey, Tulsi says that it had been a roller coaster ride. After her 12th, she did her training and licensing in aviation from a school in Miami, Florida, and then came back to serve her country. She joined an airline that closed down in 2008 because of the recession. She was without a job for three years. After that, in 2013, Tulsi joined Jet Airways which was an absolute dream come true for her. She flew hours and hours to complete the requisite flying hours to become a captain. Then she decided to give time to her family and had a baby girl. Then she worked with Spice Jet and now is working in Akasa Air.

Talking about her mistakes, Tulsi says that not speaking her mind and keeping her thoughts forward was her mistake. She feels that she should have spoken more and expressed herself more. This is the advice she keeps giving to new people in the field, to not get dominated by others and to speak up their minds.

When asked about her achievement in life, Tulsi shares that striking a balance between her work and profession is what she considers an achievement.

Sharing about her mentors and inspirations, Tulsi says that one of her father’s friends who was a pilot inspired her a lot. She used to get inspired by her discipline and his journey and it really pushed Tulsi to come into this field. She also feels that working at Jet Airways, learning from pilots there, and getting to know the industry while working in it really helped her in life.

Tulsi shares that to attain mental peace she sometimes hits the gym, goes for walks, watches sitcoms to destress herself, and also goes for trekking or swimming sometimes.
