Originally from Amet in Rajasthan, Tej Prakash Sharma now lives in Udaipur. He did his graduation in the Botany stream.
Tej Prakash pursued his Ph.D. from the MLSU, and right after completing that he started teaching graduate level students. He then joined a college in Rampura, Neemuch as a lecturer. After working there for about a year, he started working as a Research Associate in a CSIR project. Eventually, he joined Vidya Bhawan institute as a Lecturer of Botany and worked on the post for five years, before taking up the post of Director in 2011.
Tej Prakash considers Swami Vivekanand as his role model. Tej further says that Vivekanand’s understanding of spiritually and his simplicity is what inspires him the most.
Drawing a comparison between the importance of education and experience in life, Tej Prakash says that both are equally important and are co-dependent. He further explains that while education gives you knowledge, experience helps you utilise it confidently.
Tej Prakash says he has enthusiastically worked for the students since he became Director of the institute. He says that this experience as a lecturer greatly helped him in his endeavour. He created an Alumni group to arrange funds for the development of the institution. He also encouraged students’ participation in extracurricular activities like sports by hiring good PTIs.
Under him the institute also got a cafeteria, a free internet connection, and a water purifier for the students to access comfortably. His efforts to increase the number of female students showed good results and the number did gradually increase. Many other important steps, like introducing scouts and guides, were taken by him to keep up the reputation of the institution.
