Taruna had been interested in Music since the beginning and fulfilled her dream of becoming a Kathak Dancer. She is a Director at a famous Music Academy in Jaipur.

Taruna Jangid Pareek is a Kathak Dancer and a Co-Director at ‘Bhav Sur Taal Music Academy’ in Jaipur.

Taruna belongs to Jaipur, Rajasthan. She did her schooling from BSM Public Senior Secondary School and Maharaja School, Jaipur. To pursue her career in music, she did B. Mus, M. Mus and PhD in Fine Arts from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur.

Talking about her role models, Taruna says she considers her parents as her role models for supporting her to move forward in life and guiding her at every step. After marriage, she considers her husband as her role model because he always supports her in fulfilling her dreams.

About her struggles, Taruna says that coming from a middle-class family, finding a good mentor and arranging funds to fulfill her dreams, was quite challenging for her family.

Describing her achievements, Taruna says that she is a Grade Artist of Jaipur Doordarshan. She has been awarded the titles of ‘Sur Nupur’, ‘Sur Sadhak’ and ‘Sur Nartaki’ from Shree Darshan Sansthan, Jaipur. She has also won the ‘First National Best Award’ in Kathak at the National level in Pune. Along with this, she has bagged several awards and prizes in local competitions in Jaipur too.

Regarding her Covid experience, Taruna says that in the early days of the pandemic, she enjoyed spending time with family and having fun. But after a while, she started getting concerned about things as her academy was closed for a long time and gradually the money started running out. Soon, she started her business on the online platform and in no time she connected with students not only in India but also from abroad.

Advising the young dancers, Taruna tells them that no matter what dance form you choose to make your career in, you should have a strong foundation. She says that if your foot is set on classical dance form, then you can do freestyle, contemporary or even Bollywood style. She says that Dance has a vast scope that offers you to become a Dancer, Performer, Teacher, Trainer or Mentor.

Taruna says that she enjoys dancing and painting in her free time.
