Tarun Pawar is the owner of a music academy by the name “Talent Academy of Music” in Jaipur. He has been in the field of music since his childhood. He started his career as a singer and then started learning to play the guitar. He established his academy in 2012.
When asked how he got interested in music, Tarun says that he belongs to a family of musicians. He says that his father was a very good Sitar player and her mother was also into the field of music and dance. He says that due to the musical environment at his home, he started learning music from a very early age. Further, he adds that he even performed at Indira Gandhi’s home during his childhood. His father started training him and his siblings from a very early age, and his interest in music grew gradually.
Recalling his childhood memories, Tarun says when he was in school, he became very popular at a very young age for his music. His mother was a teacher in the school where he used to study, and he and his siblings used to get appreciated when they used to sing. The teachers used to take him and his siblings to different classrooms in activity periods for singing. There was a musical atmosphere at home and many famous artists gathered at his home for recordings because of which he got inclined towards music. Also, he says that he along with his siblings did various live programs by the name “Pawar Bandhu” at a very young age for Television, Doordarshan, and All India Radio and they became very popular on various platforms.
Speaking about his journey, Tarun says that he started learning music from his father. Further, he got an opportunity to work for a few years with his elder brother Ravi Pawar who is a director in the Bollywood industry. He did a few music albums with his brother. Tarun says that along with singing, he was also inclined towards playing the instruments. He learned to play both the sitar and the violin for some time and finally, he opted for the guitar and began his professional music journey as a guitarist. He says that he started taking guitar training from a great guitarist in Delhi and then started playing in various recording and TV shows with his elder brother. He started playing the guitar in 1987 and played in many music albums till 1994 and his journey continued after that.
Tarun says that Bollywood music has inspired him a lot, especially the songs from his father, elder brother, R.D. Barman, Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, and all the good singers of old times. He says that he also performed with some of these singers and due to these people, he got the power to understand good music. The most important thing for him during his entire journey is that his passion turned into his profession and is highly satisfied with the work he is doing.
Regarding his mistakes, Tarun says that as a singer, he could have started his journey a bit earlier. At the time when the mediocre singers were gaining so much name and fame, if he would have launched himself, he could have been on another level in his career, says Tarun.
Talking about his achievements, Tarun says that he got the opportunity to work with various talented singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Anup Jalota, Sonu Nigam, Jagjeet Singh, Pandit Jasraj, and many other classical and Bollywood singers, and he feels very lucky for getting the opportunities. Further, he did music albums with Harshdeep Kaur, Rahul Vaidya, and so many other artists and he feels very blessed to get the exposure to work with such artists.
Speaking about his role models, Tarun says that there have been many. His elder brother Ravi Pawar, Kishore Kumar, R.D. Barman, Sonu Nigam, Gulam Ali, Lata Mangeshkar, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ali Akbar Khan, Amjad Ali Khan, Alla Rakha Khan, and other such singers have been his role models throughout his journey.
Tarun prefers listening to music when he is stressed. He says that music works as a meditation for him, and he urges people to promote good music in order to encourage young aspiring musicians to produce good and meaningful music.
