Overcoming all the challenges, Tanvika kept her calm and patience throughout her medical journey to become a successful dentist.

Dr. Tanvika Sawant is a successful Dentist and Periodontist.

Tanvika was born and brought up in Mumbai and has spent over twenty-five years there. She completed her schooling at Dr. Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya and later switched to Patkar-Varde College for her junior college. Thereafter, Tanvika moved to Pune to complete her bachelors in dentistry, where she stayed for about six years. After completing her studies, she joined her clinic and underwent training.

When asked about her challenges, Tanvika says that at the initial stages of her career, she faced a difficult time getting patients. At the time of her graduation, Tanvika had nothing substantial to do after completing six months of her internship period.

She got a job after putting in a lot of effort, which motivated her to continue her education. Her first choice after clearing her entrance was oral surgery, and she kept periodontics as her second choice. However, Tanvika was always more confident about the latter.

Talking about the pandemic days, Tanvika shares that there was a lot of confusion in the admission process due to COVID, owing to which she couldn’t get admission to the oral surgery department. Later, Tanvika convinced herself to go for periodontics, which was a surgical subject as well. On the personal front, she got ample time to spend with her family. During those times, Tanvika explored her hobbies and started doing yoga, focusing on her health. She also tried her hand at cooking.

For aspiring dentists and medical professionals, Tanvika says that one should be sure and prepared to enter this field. She advises them to maintain a good rapport with their batchmates and seniors while working on their communication skills and thought process. Tanvika strongly suggests they work on their relationship with the patients and be patient when times get tough.

Tanvika’s biggest achievement was securing a seat for her post-graduation, which was a turning point in her life. Her success mantra is to focus on your health, both mental and physical.

When asked about her role models, Tanvika says she considers her mother as her role model, who is an architect and has had a career span of thirty-five years. She wishes to walk in her mother’s footsteps. Tanvika also draws inspiration from her sibling, who manages her work and family life beautifully.

Besides her work life, Tanvika likes to read books and is also good at swimming, sports, and running. However, after coming into the medical field, she has shifted her focus to dentistry.
