Having been inclined towards music since his childhood, Tansen sees music as a connection with the divine and encourages pursuing at least one genre of music. He has performed in South Korea, London, and Japan and has collaborated with artists worldwide.

Tansen Shriwastava is a Tabla Guru and music composer. He performs solo and also contributes to his group by composing rhythmic compositions and by synchronizing the orchestra's instruments.

Hailing from Delhi, Tansen shares that his musical journey started under the tutelage of his maternal grandfather. He learned to play the violin for three years, learnt a bit about the sitar, and did vocals too. He was also granted a scholarship by the Sangeet Natak Academy.

Revisiting his childhood, he reminisces about how his maternal grandfather taught music to his father, which led to his father meeting his mother, who also was inclined towards music. Bound by their shared love for music, they named him Tansen, his birthplace being Indira Kala Sangeet Mahavidyalaya. His father believed that one should learn at least one genre of music to increase one's mental abilities. His mother was also a Kathak dancer. Consequently, his inclination towards music was nurtured from an early age. He remembers being scolded by his mother for not practicing regularly.

Tansen believes that everyone possesses inherent artistic inclinations, requiring only identification and cultivation under the guidance of a capable mentor. He likens art to a child, necessitating nurturing, which, in turn, enriches life. He says that art remains with us throughout our lifetime.

Acknowledging his mistakes, Tansen says that he sometimes takes pity on others' mistakes and forgets to see his own but has learned to pay attention to himself. He does, however, stress the value of self-awareness and lament the hectic pace of modern society, which hinders acts of kindness and humanitarian efforts.

Regarding his accomplishments, he derives fulfillment from pursuing his passion and garnering audience appreciation. He cites performances in South Korea, London, and Japan among his notable achievements. Despite linguistic barriers, he collaborates with artists worldwide. He views life as a never-ending journey, where we are constantly pursuing one goal after the other until our lives end.

When asked about his role models, Tansen says that his maternal grandfather, his father, and his mother have been his inspiration behind his coming into the field of music, as have been his gurus, who taught him to devote himself to music. He credits his audience, who listens to him, for his success.

Tansen’s life mantra is to love yourself and try to give back twice what you receive. He advocates embracing contentment in the present moment and cherishing each experience.

For aspiring musicians, he advocates self-belief and consistent practice, emphasizing the cultivation of spiritual energy. He advises familiarizing oneself with ragas, distinguishing between noise and melody, and leveraging both in composition.

He encourages everyone to learn instrumental music, and if someone has a good voice, they can pursue vocals. He advises them to be hardworking, learn from their teachers and elders, and have a positive impact on society.
