From being a young boy with a sketch pen, Tanmoy has grown into a skilled Tattoo Artist with his sheer hard work and resilience.

Tanmoy Halder owns a Tattoo Studio called Colours Ink Tattoo. He has been tattooing since 2009.

Tanmoy Halder hails from the city of Kolkata. He was born and brought up there itself. He says that he did not enjoy a fulfilled childhood as his parents separated when he was young. He was raised by a single mother at his maternal uncle’s home in meager conditions. However, he says, his mother did everything to raise him well and thus he shares a deep intimate relationship with her.

On being asked about his inspiration to become a Tattoo Artist, Tanmoy says that he was always fascinated with colours and painting. But he didn’t always have money to buy colours so he used to resourcefully exploit colours from stones, turmeric, leaves, etc., and continued drawing. This fascination with colours and fascination stayed with him, and thus the name “Colours Ink”.

However, his journey to becoming a Tattoo artist was not smooth. He did numerous petty jobs to support his family before finally tending to his calling. Tanmoy was an avid watcher of the tattoo art programs on the Discovery Channel which has also given him insights into the world of tattooing. He says that he used to go to the tattoo studios during his childhood out of curiosity and many of the artists even helped him in learning the art. And eventually after learning the basics, he jumped into the world of tattooing in 2009. He categorically mentions that his mother was incredibly supportive of him in his feat.

Slowly but surely, Tanmoy has gained a good name for his studio and his skills due to his talent. He shares that he has a loving and satisfied customer base, which keeps him content with his work.

Along with tattooing, Tanmoy likes music. He especially likes the Baul music of Bengal.

Tanmoy says that if you want to get tattooed, you should get something that is close and personal to you, something that you truly believe in and you’ll never regret that tattoo. He himself has gotten tattoos that relate to what life has taught him.
