Tanmaya’s family originally hails from Uttar Pradesh. However, she was born and brought up in Udaipur. For the past three years she has been training in Karate - a martial art. Her parents always wanted her to learn Karate and her teachers and trainers always inspired her to learn the martial art. She has been learning it under Sensei Heena Jain for the past three years.
Tanmaya considers her parents as her role models. She says that there are so many qualities of her parents that she wants to imbibe in herself to be like them. Her parents taught her that instead of copying others, be like that others will copy you. Besides, they also taught her to keep a watch on her character and habits so that nobody can say anything to you.
Tanmaya is a green belt in Karate and is working hard for a black belt. She has participated in district level tournaments, open international tournament, and open national tournament in Ahmedabad. She aspires to play in the Olympics one day.
Tanmaya advises learning Karate as it teaches self-defense and also improves our immunity. Besides, she says that along with your studies, doing yoga, or meditation or Karate gives you a break from your routine which is good for your health too.
Tanamaya says that Karate has a good scope. You can be a referee or coach and teach it at schools or colleges. Besides, there are job opportunities for Karate and Yoga teachers in the government sector too.
Tanamaya shares that getting felicitated by an award during annual functions at her school would really make her feel happy and she cherishes those memories now as schools are mostly shut owing to the pandemic.
Tanamaya thinks that playing sports doesn't mean that it will hamper your studies. She says that studies and sports can be easily balanced. Furthermore, she says that taking at least an hour out for doing things that you love helps in your studies too. You can play sports or do Yoga or meditation or can simply go for a walk during that one hour.
