An officer of justice who became interested in RAS, Swati entered the civil service in order to help the public and inspire other women by setting a positive example for female emancipation.

Swati Sharma is an Additional Superintendent of Police in the Crime Vigilance Udaipur range.

Recalling her childhood, Swati Sharma says she was born in Ajmer and spent her childhood in Nimbahera, Chittorgarh. She completed her schooling in different cities in Rajasthan. Swati has always been a curious girl who is eager to learn new things. She also used to participate in different activities.

Swati completed her postgraduate studies in chemistry. She also started preparations to enter the medical field. However, she was not selected. Later, she decided to prepare herself as a lecturer. Meanwhile, her friends suggested she apply for the RAS examination. After reading the syllabus in different subjects, she soon got interested in it, gave her heart and body to prepare for the examination, and finally got cleared.

Talking about her professional accomplishments, Swati shares that it was in 2008 that she was appointed as the executive officer in Rajasthan Municipal Administrative Services. Then she also got selected for council tax and excise, and ultimately ended up in police services. Since 2011, Swati has been devoted to her work, helping people on a daily basis and learning new things. She exclaims that giving the initial examination was one of the best decisions of her life and is grateful each day.

Swati feels that every person in life experiences adverse situations, as without struggle, hardship, and failure, no one can understand the importance of success.

Swati says that as a female officer, she faced many struggles but never backed down from her duty, facing each problem in the face and always being ready to deal with it. As the police department is a male-dominated sector and often females are doubted on whether they would be able to do right by the job profile, Swati proved everyone wrong and emerged as a true inspiration for the others. In fact, she has also witnessed the rise of female staff in this sector over the past decade, who have done their duties on par with those of male officers.

When asked about her pandemic experiences, Swati says that for the first time, the department was dealing with the common people instead of criminals. It was a different experience for her to convince people of their safety and implement the laws in the district. She got married during the COVID-19 period, and she was affected by the virus a few days after her marriage. However, she recovered quickly.

Swati says people are still afraid of raising complaints at police stations. They do not prefer to complain about anyone until it's necessary. She says that the police work 24 hours a day because their wireless talking device is always on and they need to be available when needed.

In her free time, Swati likes to travel, explore new cultures, and learn about new things. Swati's favorite and most motivational song is "Ruk Jana nahi tu kahi haar ke".
