Swati Mehta is a general insurance broker. She provides insurance services in the fields of marine and travel insurance, fire and general insurance, motor and health insurance, and work compensation. She says that her purpose is the after-sales services that she provides and the transparency of her work. She never promises a client what she or her insurance company cannot deliver.

Swati says she learned all these qualities when she was the branch manager for operations at ICICI Lombard General Insurance. Her tenure there was extremely rewarding for her, and she gained quite a bit of good experience there. She left the job when she got married because she was unable to manage things. But after remaining idle for some time, her husband encouraged her to start her own brokerage.

Swati says that to succeed in the insurance field, you must have confidence in yourself. Every day, you must challenge yourself to attain new heights. You also need to have thorough knowledge of every point and clause of your product so that you can answer every query of your clients.

Swati regrets that the biggest sacrifice you have to make in this field is that you can never give your children adequate time. Even in the evenings, you might have to go on calls that eat into your family time.

Speaking of her childhood, Swati shares that she studied at Sophia School, and she and her friend were often addressed as ‘Talking Birds', as they spent half of their time chatting with each other.

Swati did not have many aspirations when she was in college, and she is happy and satisfied with whatever direction life has taken her. Swati tries to spend Sundays with her family, having lunches and dinners together. She also likes to go out for family outings.
