As a Social and Environmental Activist, Swaraj is striving hard to achieve all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals-2030 through the initiatives taken by the organisation he works for.

Swaraj Prakhar is a 14-year-old Indian Climate Activist currently associated with We Rise Together Foundation, an organisation based in Delhi-NCR region. He also works as a Content Creation Manager and owns a YouTube channel wherein he talks about socially relevant topics. Swaraj is also a blogger and aims to come up with a blog website soon.

Swaraj shares that his organisation works for three initiatives: ‘Sunday for Secured Future’ which focuses on planting trees and taking the desired climate action; ‘She Hygiene’ wherein sanitary napkins are distributed to underprivileged women and ‘Helping Hands’ that aims to distribute books and stationery products to children.

As a Content Creation Manager, Swaraj helps spread the word about the initiatives taken by We Rise Together Foundation. His work includes taking care of social media and advertising through posters and flyers.

Currently, Swaraj is studying at St. Francis School located in Indirapuram. He decided to join We Rise Together inspired by one of his friends who is the founder of the organisation. His first plantation drive made him feel happy and thereafter, Swaraj decided to become a part of the initiative. His objective is to make resources available to people who cannot access them.

Talking about the pandemic, Swaraj shares that Covid led to a break in their social activities due to restrictions and shutting down of schools and markets. He also started working on his YouTube channel to be productive during the lockdown. His channel focuses on socially trending topics happening around the world like Silicon Valley, China-India border issue and he will be soon coming up with one video on Sonar. Swaraj’s family is very much supportive of his initiatives and interests.

Talking about the challenges he has faced, Swaraj shares that as a YouTuber, he finds it challenging to grow his YouTube channel in initial stages. He adds that making people understand and garnering their support towards his organisational initiatives is a challenging part too.

Swaraj considers the support and recognition received by We Rise Together as an achievement.

He considers his parents as his biggest inspiration to work towards climate action.

Swaraj feels that both Education and Experience should go hand in hand.

Talking about leadership, he says that it is the ability of the manager to make sound decisions and inspire others to perform well. Swaraj adds that leadership is the process of directing the behaviour of others towards achieving a common goal while ensuring team work. He shares that while conducting meetings, Swaraj and the founders take consent of each and every member of the team.

In his free time, Swaraj likes to read books, watch movies and plant trees.

His Success Mantra is to never give up and keep improvising to have things your way.

If Swaraj could go back in a Time Machine, he would have made a plan to save the environment and not let people cut trees. He would have ensured a balance between human development and sustainability.

Swaraj urges the youth to take part in climate action every Sunday and join hands in his initiative.
