Suvrat completed his education in the F & B industry and has been running his restaurant with a vision to carry forward his parents’ legacy.

Suvrat Agrawal is the owner of Hariyali Restaurant in Udaipur.

Suvrat hails from Udaipur. He did his schooling from MMPS, Udaipur and then pursued a hotel management course in Jaipur due to his interest in the field of hospitality. He then did his training at the Taj hotel in Delhi for a year. He then learned cooking from various places and eventually joined his parents' restaurant.

Talking about his restaurant, Suvrat says that the restaurant was started in 1994 by his mother with a vision of having a purely family restaurant without any alcohol or non-veg food being served. He then started helping out his parents run this restaurant, prior to which, he had been running a hotel.

Speaking of his role models, Suvrat says that he considers his parents as his role models who worked hard to run the restaurant and raise him efficiently. He says that his father was a working professional who would also work at the restaurant after returning from work. He says that both of them taught him crucial life values which he follows in his personal and professional life.

Sharing his COVID experience, Suvrat says that the business suffered a lot but the cordial relations that his parents had built with the staff and the guests is what made them recover quickly. He, along with other restaurateurs, formed a restaurant association as well to cope up with the aftermath of the pandemic and come to terms with the administration regarding the proper guidelines to run restaurants.

With this association, he is also pushing for a nightlife in Udaipur.

Talking about the testing times in his life, Suvrat says that he had started a restaurant in 2014, which didn’t work out well so he had to wind it up in 2019. He then joined his parental restaurant which proved to be quite challenging initially but eventually everything turned out to be well. He further says that the smart city project that is underway in the city is delayed and it creates problems for the guests to reach the restaurant. He says that in his journey, he only regrets not doing a job before joining the business, which would have made him more skilled.

Advising budding restaurateurs, Suvrat says that you should do a job and gain experience before starting something of your own.
