Sushmita Kanjilal is a Kathak Performer, Vlogger and Founder of ‘Traveller Musicians’ in Delhi.
Sushmita discloses that she travels and performs classical dance. Together with her spouse Subhankar, she launched her own vlogging website ‘Traveller Musicians’ when they decided to try new meals and locations. They chose this name since they are both musicians and travellers.
Sushmita shares that she and her spouse take pleasure in travelling to new locations and learning about other cultures. They primarily visit mountains to attempt to experience local music and culture, after which they share their experiences on social media and their vlogging page. They also discuss and include the local cuisine found in mountainous areas.
Sharing her accomplishments, Sushmita mentions that Doordarshan awarded her the distinction of Graded Artist. The Sahitya Kala Parishad also awarded her a scholarship.
When asked about her role models, Sushmita reveals that during the epidemic, she watched YouTube videos and used social media to get inspiration for starting her own company and vlogging. Her father and spouse also serve as sources of inspiration for her travels.
Speaking of her early years, Sushmita explains that she was born and raised in Delhi, where she also finished her schooling and dance training. She places a lot of significance on Durga Puja. When she was a little girl, she had longed to become a teacher. Since childhood, she had also enjoyed spending time alone herself. She used to sit in front of the mirror every day as a youngster and talk to herself, and she still does that. She enjoys eating tamarind as well.
‘Travelling is my source of happiness’ is a phrase that inspires and drives her. She also finds a lot of inspiration in the music of the film ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and likes watching the movie too.
Reflecting on her struggles, she states that she had several financial setbacks while working in the dance industry, but she is content since she is doing what she loves. Her primary challenge was having to forge her own route. Sushmita defines hardships as a way in which one paves their own path.
Sushmita counsels young people to pay attention to their inner selves before outside influences impact them. Choose your objective first, let your parents know what it is, and then keep up your sincere efforts to achieve it. Be cheerful, have confidence in yourself, and always be honest.
She reveals that she and her husband, together with Traveller Musicians, recently began touring with adventurers who show them hidden and breathtaking locations. These places are less crowded and in addition, they also have yoga sessions, food, and music. They are also promoting traditional music and authentic food.
