With valuable experience in the field of public service, Sushma has held many administrative positions in education. She also contributes to the development of financially disadvantaged students.

Dr. Sushma Arora has been working as the Academic Director of Happy Home Senior Secondary School since 2013. Prior to this, Sushma served in the government sector and was also the headmistress of Balika Vidyalaya.

Sushma also has valuable experience in the field of public service. For nearly 10 years, she worked at the State Institute of Education Research and Training (SIERT), where she actively engaged in various research projects, textbook development, and teacher training programs, as well as implemented several national initiatives. Through SIERT, she had the opportunity to collaborate with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and conduct educational research at the state level. During this time, she also held various administrative positions.

Sushma served as the principal of a secondary school for approximately 17 years and initially worked as an additional district education officer before becoming a district education officer. When she was assigned to the post of Block Education Officer, she played a crucial role in establishing the first-ever office of that level and subsequently continued in the position. Afterward, she felt a strong connection to Happy Home Senior Secondary School, as it was her husband, Jagdish Arora, who founded and served as the director of the institution. Consequently, she decided to contribute her experience to the development of the school.

The motto of Happy Home Senior Secondary School is to contribute to society by providing education to underprivileged children. Sushma mentions that a majority of the students currently enrolled in the institution come from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Speaking about her childhood, Sushma shares that during her early years, her family migrated from Lahore after the partition. Her father used to run a business in Lahore, but they had to leave everything behind. Her maternal uncle was an engineer on the railway, and he relocated the entire family to Udaipur for better opportunities. Inspired by her uncle's actions, her father also resumed his work in Udaipur and became a successful A-class contractor.

Sushma reflects on the challenges they faced, witnessing financial hardships and business losses, along with various struggles in life. However, the unity of her family helped them overcome those challenges together.

Sushma witnessed several instances of discrimination and oppression against women and girls during the partition, and at that time, girls' education was not given much importance. Her family belonged to a joint family, and her paternal uncle did not consider girls' education essential. She recounts an incident from her 6th grade when her cousin got married in Punjab, and when they were returning from the wedding, it took them a long time, causing her to be late for admission to the 6th grade. The principal at that time refused to admit her, which brought tears to her eyes. Eventually, with her mother's support, she was granted admission after the principal saw her crying. She expresses gratitude to her parents for ensuring her education.

Regarding her challenges, Sushma mentions that her Ph.D. viva exam and the interview for the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) lecturer position were scheduled on the same day—one in Jaipur and the other in Ajmer. She approached the RPSC to request a postponement of her interview. After her Ph.D. viva exam, she attended the interview, securing the 10th rank.

Another challenge was that when she got selected, her selection was provisional as her surname was changed in her documents. She was asked to go to court, put her marriage certificate in, and get an affidavit for permanent selection. Sushma completed all the formalities, after which she was posted to Barmer. Commuting daily was a problem for her, especially when her kids were small. Sushma then reached out to the director, who gave her an extension and also changed her posting from Barmer to Chandat.

Sushma finds inspiration in the quote, "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."
