Sushil Sharma is an entrepreneur working in different sectors like Fintech and Education. He feels that pivoting in life is very important and so is experimenting.

Sushil Sharma is the Founder-Owner at Marwari Catalyst Ventures, Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

He was born in Bidar, Karnataka. He says that as his father was in the Air Force, Sushil got to travel a lot and finally they settled in Jodhpur. Sushil says that his company is the fastest growing accelerator in the field of Education, Fintech, and D2C.

Sushil feels that his traveling days taught him a lot. It made him more open to people and helped him in accepting different personalities. He learned to adjust to new places and people and make new friends. Sushil says that he was a backbencher and not very good at studies. He has done M. Com in Research Methodologies.

Sushil started his professional journey by starting a Cyber Café. He says that it gave him an opportunity to connect with people and get contacts. He then moved to Website Development and then slowly started a Software Company. Sushil says that they are doing great in the education sector. They have clients like Zee, Aditya Birla, and Jindal industries in the education sector. They have worked with around 1000+ schools, 50+ colleges, and 10+ Universities.

Sushil shares that he got to meet a lot of experienced people through this journey of his. He got an opportunity to be a part of the Electronics and Software Export Promotion Council, which is a PSU under the Ministry of Science and Technology, and got to be a part of a delegation traveling to different countries for improving bilateral ties. He also invested in an Agriculture Farmhouse in Ethiopia in 2012 and exited the business with ten times profit in 2016. He says that by now he was well versed on when to enter a business and when to exit it. He feels this knowledge comes with experience and working with different people from different industries.

Sushil shares that he was also a part of an Allotment Committee of an IT Park in Jodhpur and got to implement his vision. He feels that this was his biggest achievement in life. After this, Sushil started Marwari Catalyst Ventures to invest in Startups and new entrepreneurs.

Sushil says that there are four challenges in front of any new business: Location, Knowledge, Network, and Capital. He feels that tier-2 cities are not very open to the concept of start-ups and intellectual property. A lot of trust-building activity is required in such cities. Also, all the knowledge-inducing conferences are held in bigger cities and knowledge penetration is low in smaller cities. Also, getting skilled people to work is a task as many of them migrate to bigger cities for better opportunities. However, Covid resulted in the reverse-migration situation and hence he feels that it has helped start-ups of smaller cities very much.

To new entrepreneurs, Sushil has some advice. Firstly, one should be ready to pivot from one tech to another and be open to changes. Being adamant helps no one is what he feels. Secondly, you should see the market from a bird-eye view and get a sense of market demand. One should have a long-term plan and even get a sense of changes that might occur in the next few years. He also thinks that building a good team is also very important-a team that is experienced and versed in every field of work.

Sushil says that the only mistake he has done in life is surrounding himself with the wrong people. He feels that one should choose their friends wisely.

He thinks that in early stages of life one should experiment a lot career-wise before settling down to one choice. If you are passionate about something, you should definitely give it a try even if you know the possibility of failure.

Sushil says that education is important but what matters more is exposure and experience. The top colleges in India provide both Education and Exposure and that helps in overall development. However, students from other colleges should focus on getting exposure from outside activities like internships and gaining exposure.

Sushil thinks that 70 percent of people are born leaders but fail to recognize their capabilities due to a lack of opportunities or lack of passion. The other 30 percent are not born leaders but turn into one through hard work and passion. He thinks that good leadership depends on two points: Vision and Team-Work.

In his free time, Sushil likes to travel with friends and family. He also likes to talk to his friends about life and experiences.
