Surendra Kumar Dwivedi is a principal at Nimbark Teachers Training College in Udaipur.
Surendra was born and brought up in Udaipur. He belongs to a Vedic family. His father, Bhim Shankar Dwivedi, had opened a school called Aadarsh Vidya Mandir. Surendra completed his schooling at the same school and moved to Kanwarpada Higher Secondary School for his intermediate. He completed his Masters degree in Sanskrit from M.V. College and later pursued his PhD in Sanskrit from Rajasthan Vidyapeeth. Sanskrit, Hindi, and geography were his favorite subjects. He has been working as a teacher at Nimbark Teachers Training College for the last 35 years and is currently the principal there.
Recalling his childhood, Surendra says that he had always been an obedient child and rarely did any mischief at school. He enjoyed participating in plays and dramas.
Surendra says that he loves teaching, and while he was pursuing his BA, he started teaching nursery students. After completing his BA, he became the headmaster of Subharti School, which was started by his father. He finds himself very fortunate as he teaches students from the lower class to the upper class.
Talking about his hardships, Surendra says that he faced many ups and downs in his journey, as he used to walk kilometers to execute his studies. Then, when he was in NCC, he used to walk wearing heavy boots. Initially, his father suggested that he join a school to teach students. Surendra studied and taught students simultaneously until his MA. His wife supported him a lot throughout his journey.
While comparing education and experience, Surendra says that both are two sides of the same coin. Education provides the basic knowledge, and experience is the means to put it into practice.
Surendra feels that leadership comes from experience. He says that if a person is confused about what to do next in life, he can get suggestions from experienced people in that field. Leadership is an important factor that a teacher must have so that he can tackle the problems of his students and solve them in a better way.
If given a time machine, Surendra would say that it was his dream to become a teacher. Apart from this, if he gets a chance to go back in time, he wants to become an announcer.
Sharing his COVID experiences, Surendra says that, no doubt, COVID caused unlimited losses, but it has had some positive impact in our lives too, as it has taught us the importance of our loved ones.
Surendra’s role models are his mother, father, and grandfather, as he learned a lot from them. He also admires Swami Vivekananda, as he inspires him.
According to Surendra, Swaadhyay, Sanskriti, Sanskar, and Sewa are the four major factors that help make a good human being. He further says that if anyone condemns you, don't mind it and move ahead. He believes that dedication is the key factor behind success in any field. He further says that through good company, we can achieve anything. Friendship must be done with better people. He says that it's very important to develop mental and physical behaviour in a better way. Shrawan, Manan, and Nridhyanan help develop one's mental and internal behaviour.
In his spare time, Surendra likes to listen to sports commentaries and songs on the radio. He is also fond of recording Sanskrit slokas.
Surendra wants to thank the media and technology, as they have unlimited benefits if they are used positively to improve skills.
Advising the young generation, Surendra says that one should always choose the subject according to their interest.
