Surbhi Mishra is a Mechanical Engineer by education. Currently, she is working as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, Udaipur.
Hailing from Udaipur, Surbhi completed her graduation from GITS itself.
Surbhi says she was a bright student in academics as well as in other extra- curricular activities. She thanks her school principal, Alka Sharma, who always inspired her and developed the qualities of a teacher within her.
Recalling her childhood memories, Surbhi says when she was in 12th grade, she was given a chance to perform the role of the principal at her school, and she managed all the staff along with students and felt like she was a replica of her principal.
Surbhi shares that she was selected for a position as a boiler inspector in a company, but due to some circumstances, she couldn’t join the position.
Sharing her experiences, Surbhi says it is easier to connect with students effectively in offline classes as compared to online classes.
Comparing the two, Surbhi says she believes that a balance between education and experience is necessary. Education provides us with all the knowledge that helps us solve problems, and experience enhances our personalities and helps us gain expertise in any field.
Talking about her mistakes, Surbhi says many times she doesn’t think from others’ perspectives, which leads her to challenges.
Even if given a chance to go back in time in a time machine, Surbhi would not like to do that, as she believes it would create regret for not living the present as it should be.
According to Surbhi, earlier there was a common assumption in society that women should not pursue degrees in mechanical engineering. It was difficult for her to pursue studies in this subject. However, she had the capacity to tackle problems and now feels accomplished for getting over the barrier.
When asked about her role models, Surbhi says she takes inspiration from her mother. She has a very close bond with her and hence shares everything with her.
In her free time, Surbhi likes gardening, playing badminton, going on walks, and listening to songs. Furthermore, visiting spiritual places is also one of their hobbies.
Surbhi’s success mantra is "Do not limit yourself."
Advising the younger generation, Surbhi says teaching is a profession of learning and educating others. You need to join this field with all your potential and deliver the best of you, as the profession gives you a responsibility to shape the future of the country.
