Magic is more than mere entertainment.
Suraj Bibhishan Chavan is a magician in Mumbai.
He mentions that his father was an established magician, and his connections helped him in building a client base.
Suraj says that while performing magic, he has the ability to adapt his personality according to the audience. He can behave in one way when engaging with kids and be completely different when interacting with young adults. He also emphasizes his approach of treating clients like family members.
He shares that his family faced financial challenges and they worked in shops to make ends meet. His father possessed all the needed materials for magic, but he didn't perform due to lack of support. However, things changed when his father got an opportunity to perform at an orphanage and received praise.
On another occasion, when his father was unwell, Suraj stepped in to perform, and people appreciated his efforts. The joy he sensed in children's smiles motivated him to continue with magic.
Notably, Suraj says that he has even performed at parties organized for Shah Rukh Khan's daughter, Saif Ali Khan's son, and Tushar Kapoor's son.
Talking about his childhood, Suraj says that he was born in Pakrud village of Osmanabad, Maharashtra. Then, his family shifted to Mumbai and he completed his schooling from Lokmanya Tilak school and completed his college in Ghatkopar.
Suraj says that his father is his role model, and he finds motivation from speakers like Sandeep Maheshwari, Vivek Bindra, and Bagheshwar Baba. The song ‘Kar Har Maidan Fateh’ from the movie Sanju also uplifts him.
Sharing his achievements, Suraj says that he excels at interacting with audiences during magic shows.
For those aspiring to enter the field of magic, he advises viewing magic not just as entertainment but as a career. He stresses punctuality, embracing feedback, and learning from it. He emphasizes on valuing the offers received, acknowledging referrals, and maintaining trust.
His message to the youth revolves around building positive friendships, self-respect, and assisting those in need.
