Sunil embarked on his entrepreneurial journey right after completing high school. He had to face his share of challenges initially. Nonetheless, with his relentless efforts, he was able to scale his little venture up to an IT company.

Sunil Vishwakarma is the director of  Webangel Technologies in Bhopal.

Recalling his childhood, Sunil says that his father used to work in the Army, and owing to his father’s frequent transfers, he spent his childhood at various places in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Assam. Eventually, his family settled in Bhopal and he completed his college education there.

Describing his entrepreneurial journey thus far, Sunil says that right after completing high school, he started his company in 2017 with five of his friends in Bhopal. He says, initially he didn’t have a work portfolio and due to that he had to go door-to-door to spread the word about his company. After five years of toiling, today, he has more than a thousand clients worldwide, Sunil says. He also says that besides web designing, his company has forayed into android app development as well and has also worked with the MP government to design their websites.

When asked about his role models, Sunil says that Sandeep Maheshwari, a YouTuber and Motivator, is his role model. Besides, his business partner, Rahul Kumar is also a role model to him.

Speaking of his struggles, Sunil says that starting his company with little experience entailed its own set of challenges for him initially. He didn’t have a network of people and didn’t possess working knowledge of various technologies either. And due to that, at times, he wouldn’t be able to finish up the projects undertaken on his own and therefore would have to seek the help of freelance techies. However, with time, he acquired the required experience and learned about various technologies by working on them. Besides, he says that owing to the COVID pandemic, many of the projects that he had undertaken were put on hold by the client side and that resulted in delayed or no payments. And due to that, he had to let go of some of his employees as he couldn’t pay their salaries.

However, Sunil says that things started to change for the better on his end when he started promoting his business online and showing people how they could leverage the technology to grow their businesses. He started getting projects one after the other and it helped him keep his business afloat during the pandemic.

To freshers beginning their professional careers, Sunil advises them that initially, they should focus more on learning and not earning. Besides, he advises them to work in an environment where they can grow rapidly rather than look for stability.

Sunil thinks that education plays an important role in life but experience teaches us more and helps us in doing things better. He says that particularly in the IT sector, education and experience both matter.

In his spare time, Sunil likes to spend time with his family and friends as owing to his profession he barely gets any time to be with them. Besides, he also likes to mull over new business opportunities with his team in his free time.
