Sunil Paliwal is an industry experienced professional in dairy technology, who is utilising his experience for the benefit of future dairy technologists.

Sunil hails from the temple-town, Nathdwara in Rajasthan. He completed his schooling from Nathdwara itself and moved to Udaipur to pursue B.Tech in Dairy Technology from the College of Technology & Agriculture Engineering. Then, he did a B.A. in Agriculture Engineering from the same institute, and lastly, an M.Tech in Dairy & Food Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur. After completion of studies, he worked in popular food companies like Hindustan Unilever, Britannia, Coca Cola, etc. He climbed up from the bottom-most level to the post of General Manager and gained substantial exposure and experience.

Then, in 2016 he was invited by the Pacific Institute of Dairy & Food Technology to take up the post of Director and share his valuable experience in shaping the future technologists of the food and dairy industry. The first batch of the institute has already passed under his guidance and has been successfully employed in the industry. He shares that the courses designed at his institute are all practical-approach based and provide maximum practical exposure, industry tours, and a six months industry work opportunity for the students.

Talking about struggles, he says, “Life is full of ups and downs. Challenges are an inevitable part of life.” In his life, he wanted to pursue academics, but on the persistence and guidance of his mentors, seniors, and college vice-chancellors, he opted to work in private companies. But he is grateful for their guidance, as now he can get the pleasure of sharing those valuable experiences with the students and build better careers.

Sunil feels that the Dairy and Food industry is in its growing stage. The number of dairy technologists is comparatively less and thus they are in high demand in India and abroad. So, it is a good opportunity for the youth to opt for this field and prosper in it. Furthermore, Sunil values practical experience along with theoretical knowledge. He believes that dealing with practical problems while working in the industry and utilising your knowledge yields success.

To all the aspiring candidates and students, he advises exploring their interests before choosing their careers. A career in the dairy industry is a good choice as it has lots of job vacancies and fewer applicants. The concepts taught in this course are micro-biology, engineering, and management, giving the candidate a 360-degree knowledge to deal with multiple situations in future.

As the director of the institute, he keeps an eye on all the activities that are happening. He watches and gives feedback to every student, makes provisions for extra classes, and maintains a friendly approach. Due to a high degree of practical approach in courses, the students are bonded well with the tutors.

Lastly, he motivates everyone to be fearless and tackle all the obstacles in their path, like Abraham Lincoln and Amitabh Bachchan, who rose above their troubles and shined as stars again.
